Predisone and PC?

I may be getting myself confused or mixed up on this subject, so I throw it out to the crowd for an opinion.  Is Predisone used with HT, or only in conjunction with Chemo if needed in regards to PC?

It concerns me, because of all the meds in the world, I am extremely allergic to Predisone and its cousins.  Twenty years ago, I had an adverse reaction while on Predisone that was prescribed for a chest injury.  It took me 3 times into the ER, with heart attack symptons, and I had a difficult being free of side effects from it, even though I was on it for less than 3 weeks.  It took me more than 3 years to get over the effects.  It's listed on my medical records that I should never be put on it.

Could this allergy to it, be a potential worry in the future, or is it really used with advanced PC?

I think I've heard of it given with various chemo regimens

Prednisone is given with docetaxel in order to decrease fluid retention and hypersensitivity reactions.

That was the impression I had too. Hope I never need to find out, as I would never consent to use it again.

I,m sitting here with a 9 day regimen for predisone as we speak. Its for a pinched nerve radiculapthy recurrence had it before, but really didn't like it . I will probably pass and use the old spine inverter.

It is used for Ketoconazole useage, Abiraterone (Zytiga brand name) and I think TAK700. Those have alot of similarities.

New drug MDV3100 looks like it is being trumped already by ARN-509 (Aragon Pharma) it is more potent than MDV3100 (aka 'super casodex'). ARN-509 is in clinical trials Phase I/II and already looks more potent and perhaps better. These two drugs don't use Predisone, fyi.

Purg-perhaps if you look into therapies, maybe staying away from Prednisone would be good, there are still lots of choices to look into...some docs won't mention any of them...so you might need to be proactive is a suggestion.

zufus, if i were ever on the chemo type treatments, i still wouldnt consent to predisone again, i would have to find an alternative
