The use of some of the allergy (over the counter) medications "MAY" possibly cause some urine retention. I had brachy almost eleven months ago and had a catheter poked into me for a volume study and although it was really not that bad, I rather not have the need for another one. So many of the OTC meds usually caution us not to use if we have an enlarged prostate. Since I'd rather take no chance of having to go to out local hospital for another tube stuck up the old pee wee, I called my Uro Doc and asked him what he suggests I could take that would work and still lessen the chance of retention. He indicated that he, himself, takes a nasal spray such as Afrin. My allergies have currently subsided enough that I'm not taking any meds for runny nose and things associated with allergies. The nasal spray that I use when needed, I bought "No drip nasal spray" at our local Walmart under the Equate brand on which the box shows "Compare to Afrin - no drip original active ingredient". Works for me.
