Here is what little I know on it: USPIO Ultrasmall-Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide
(was an article in NEJofMedicine of this) as from P63 in Dr. Strum's book (that many people disregard). The assessment of lymphnodes measuring 5-10mm the accurancy rate stated is 98.9% with sensitivity rated 96.4% and specificity of 99.3% (??-to us lay people sounds pretty good). Even in lymphnodes <5mm, was found to have a specificity rate of 98.1%.
This is comparable to the Combidex scanning method from Netherlands (Holland), that John T has done and was definitively proven in his case as vastly superior..John will say something on that.
Link to info on such: http://www.ncbi.nlm.gov/pmc/articles/PMC30871831 (Link is NFG for some reason) Go to www.google.com and search for USPIO imaging for stuff.
The Doctors name in Florida on this is Dr. Bravo and we have a patient or two from another forum whom just went down there, if I find info will post it here soon.
I talked to Dr. Strum in an email about a few things recently, this scanning method was one of them. He and Dr. Barrantz (Holland scan doc) have seen images from this Florida docs lab.....they both contend (his words), that this scan is not as definitivel in clarity, but is still a good choice...and would likely be superior to anything else the US has currently to offer. (back in 2005 USPIO was awaiting FDA approval, the FDA shot down Combidex scan a few years back, Ralph Blum was at the hearings and mentioned it in a book).
Good luck in what you can find out on this, many need to know. Me always curious.
