VED advice sought please

Hi guys.

I have decided to use a VED pump for penile therapy so that i use my Caverject only when we want to be intimate, the pump will be for therapy only. I found a pump i like and suits me but on opening the box up, there were no instructions, typical mad It is obviously fairly easy to use and i bought the lube to go with it after getting stuck in one that the hospital lent me and didnt tell me about using lube and it did not help that the vacuum would not release. Just imagine the scene, me in the bathroom with the tube on my **** and because it was a small tube i rather filled it and so i turn it off and the vacuum did not let go. I had to wait till i went soft naturally and could not stop giggling :))))

So my friends can i have the benefit of your experiences please as regards how long to use it for, how often to use it and what kind of results you achieved ??

After much advice here I went to the local adult toy store and bought one which looked like it would do the trick. Manual type, tube looked right and had a good release mechanism.

It is the only one I have used for the past year plus and it still works fine. Cost me about $79 instead of the hundreds for the medically designed and promoted type.

If used for therapy, without rings, it is usually the recommended cycle of Pump up, slowly and gradually a bit at a time, giving the tissue time to stretch and expand, until full erection is obtained. The first time of each session needs to be slow, with a few times of releasing the pressure and starting over, until you have properly stretched and exercised the penis to full erection. Once obtained, hold the erection for a minute or so, then release, allowing the penis to deflate, then repeat the pumping. The second time and forward doesn't need as slow and steady a pace. Pump and hold for a minute or so, do 3 or so cycles, (as much as you have the time for), twice daily. You can extend the time that you keep it erect as you wish, up to 30 minutes. If using rings, make sure you have properly expanded the penis before applying the ring/rings, then don't keep them on for more than 30 minutes. So twice daily, 3 or more cycles lasting a minute or more. Use plenty of lube, you may want to do some manscaping on the pubes as well.

My use of it gives me a fuller feeling, more aware of the area, sensations, just more of the old macho feeling of having some kind of feeling in the area. Hope you get mighty fine results from yours. good luck

It do it in the shower and use shaving cream as the lubricant. Between pumps I shave, and brush my teeth. The timing is just about right.

I have had good results with a pump and it was only a cheapie. I found it possible to use without lube (which I find messy). Pump a little, a few vigorous shakes, pump a little more and so on. As the erection progresses I find I can pump more and shake less.

Even the cheapies should have a quick release valve -- essential if you suck a testicle up smhair

If you have an erection that does not collapse as soon as you release the vacuum, that is a good sign -- it means there is some natural recovery going on. yeah

I have been using an Osbon manual pump about 5-6 times once a week since about 45 days after surgery. It started out just for therapy. At first I declined trimming hairs, but it does help for a better seal. Later I was able to get up the nerve to try a post office type rubber band wound around the tube 3 times (2 times was not enough to maintain an erection). It has been great for intercourse again. I was nervous to try the supplied rings, I have not as of yet. I think I read on this site someone suggesting rubber bands.

I mostly do 5 pumps and then release after a few moments and just keep repeating over and over 5-release. Sometimes I do an extra pump or 2 as long as it doesn't hurt too much.

I recently decided to not be in a hurry and was reading a book while the pump pressure was on and was surprise how being more patient it increased gradually on its own without the constant pump release technique.

I started out before surgery with a cheapy pump from an adult ****o site that I ordered it from. This was done at the recommendation of my Urologist/surgeon. The pump had no restrictor bands with it, so after a few months, I purchased the Encore pump over the internet, and it has been the pump of choice for me. It costs about $150, but I feel that it was money well spent, although like Cajun Jeff, overall I'm not sure either of the pumps that I have purchased and used has done any good, and in fact, might have been part of the cause of my having developed penile corporeal fibrosis.
But, James C pumping technique is right one, and the way that I continue to utilize my pump.

Chuck and I actually purchased the expensive one that the doctor prescribed. An erec-aid, I think it is. I called his insurance ahead of time to make sure it would be covered and they said yes, but are now saying it's not. I'm fighting that battle now, but I am sure hoping they pay because it costs a ridiculous $900! I honestly never thought of getting one somewhere else. It's battery operated and has the rings, which we have tried. I never thought of rubber bands...the rings have little 'handles' on them which makes them easy to get off. I'll admit that sliding them off of the VED scares me to death every time, but he says it doesn't actually hurt, just surprises him each time. The first couple of times we used it, we had what we thought were really good results, but now it seems that it isn't working as well. I don't know if that's normal or if we're getting too anxious and not waiting long enough or what. He's starting to get frustrated and I'm thinking that might be part of the problem now, too. Has anyone else started out with good results that seem to have dissipated?

I got a VED from and Adult shop, exactly like the Encore manual model. The rings supplied aren't just right so I have to use two different sizes to keep it firm for penetration. I try to do VED rehab once a day, s l o w l y as James C. suggests and finally holding a full erection for 5 minutes, deflate wait a few minutes then repeat to hold for 5, no rings. I use normal hand lotion, much cheaper than the suggested lube to keep from getting stuck. I'd also recommend some shaving around the seal area as this can become uncomfortable under suction if hair is being pushed into the skin.

I keep hearing about people using office rubber bands but if anyone can measure on or point me to the office supply website with a size I'd be happy to have a few spares. I broke one of the supplied rings and the replacement wasn't cheap.

Also, don't be alarmed that the colour and temp is different from a natural erection. A VED sucks venous blood into the penis rather than an injection which forces arterial blood into the penis. This very fact is why some docs feel the VED doesn't help with rehab of tissue. I think it does help with preventing shrinkage post RRP though.

Seems like some technique is needed as I can't see why a VED isn't working, simple suction drawing fluid into the penis? It can take up to 10 minutes for full inflation using the inflate a bit deflate inflate a bit more method so maybe that's why it isn't working?

The size is completely non-critical. I suggest try a few of varying size to see what is best for you. Mine are two inches in diameter and about 1/16 x 1/8th inch in cross-section. I use four to six doubled over depending on how "tired" they are. If your bands are longer, try tripled over, if stronger or weaker, use fewer or more.

As they don't have handles, removal may be more difficult, but I do it just one strand at a time. If they get too tangled up, just cut them off -- you won't break the bank :-)

I have been using the Osbon Erectaid - manual for about 9 years.

The unit is expensive for what  you get but it does last a long time.

I have update two years ago to the newer manual version.

It works, it something which you need to practice as well as take your time.

When I first got it, it was pump, pump, pump and not wait  until Jr. naturally expands.  The result was uncomfortable and when I put on the rings, it kind of hurt.

I have learned that with practice and patience, Jr is more comfortable with the process and he doesn't lose his fealing because of too tight and wrong bands.

I have used various rings and found the D rings as well as the Round inserts work well.  Sometimes I use two  rings, a D ring and a larger ring but the more time I take pumping up the less I need two.

Unfortunately using the pump does put a pause  in the love making process but the results are  good.  Both my wife and I enjoy how it works so  YEAH!
