Last week my wife made an appointment with a Acupuncturist. She has mostly been bed ridden for the last 3-4 weeks with back pain. Her latest scans indicate an increase in bone damage. So she is looking at other solutions.

I had to drive her and she wanted me to be there to help her evaluate the dr and the process. While we were waiting for the dr to finish up with a patient, they put a video in for us to watch.

It was all about Prostate Cancer. So I am watching this and I asked my wife if she had "Sand Bagged" me on this appointment. She said no. Didn't even know this about the dr.

Interesting to say the least. Just thought I would pass it along for discussion.

Chime in. The jury is still out in my house. The dr had to go out of town the next day. He will be back later this week. He was in NY teaching other acupuncturists and MDs about his techniques and philosophy.

BTW, he said when he returned he would give me the name and phone number of the PCa patient in the video.

Interesting. Some people respond well to acupuncture. My brother had it done for his hip. He eventually had to have it replaced, but he did remark how good he felt and the hip felt after acupuncture. I'd be curious to see what was in his powder.

Without actual background it is difficult to judge. What was his PSA before the diet, exercise, and special treatment. We know it is possible to affect PSA with diet. Also when was this done and how is he doing now?

I know there are several people in Florida that are on the site. We need a few of them to TOFTT and try this treatment. Let's get our own HW clinical trial going.

JNF, I too have many of the same questions about this video. I plan to contact the dr when he returns and follow up with a call to the patient.

Bronson, I found the same site when I was researching the dr. Does look a little too good to be true doesn't it. But, it doesn't cost me anything but a little time to do the research and follow up for myself.

Besides, as crazy as this whole journey has been for me, you just never know. Gives me something to do and occupies my mind and time. At least for now I seem to have plenty of both on my hands.

There have been numerous controlled studies on Acupuncture where a patient is treated with needles and something that feels like a needle to the patient but doesn't pierce the skin. There were no differences in the groups as to results. We have long known the effects of placebos in medical science and acupunture looks like a placebo effect.

I totally agree with you John. But does a PSA test result in zero from only the placebo effect. That is of course if it really went to zero and there were no other therapies being utilized (i.e. HT). This is just one of the things I want to ask the patient that was interviewed.

I am not saying that this is something that I personally want to jump into, but it is worth discussing. My wife found this guy through reference and is interested if she can gain relief from the bone damage and pain she is experiencing. So my research is more general and not specific to PCa.

I also find it difficult to believe that 100% of his patients have experienced the "Miracle" of full recovery. This is the impression you get if you read all of the reviews written about him by his patients. They would lead you to believe that he has never had a failure. If this were truly the case, why isn't he the lead story on national news, CNN, Barbara Walters, etc. This would be the greatest thing since sliced bread and pop top beer cans.

As positive as I am in life I am still a cynic and somewhat doubter that believes "Show me the Proof" when it comes to the world of medicine.

Let's face it. My history would indicate that I have gone against the odds, stats and curves in everything I have done with my PCa.

Thank all of you for your input. The strength of this forum is the versatility and variety of background, knowledge and experiences that we have here. Added to that is the willingness to share.

Acupuncture might help but it surely isn't a cure for PCa. Oh, don't get me wrong, having had Carpal tunnel syndrome to the point of talking about surgery to cure it.
I went once and only once to the "Push Pin Doctor", yup, I was cured with one treatment! Mother-in-law has acupuncture for her back problems and swears by it, she's in her late 70's and not normally one to try unconventional medicine.

Frankly, it looks way too good to be true, so my conclusion is this iis a bunch of BS.

I know we sometimes grasp at straws, but to even suggest that acupuncture cures PC???

So far, I see a sample of one.

Well Done Sonny, a good story and I believe one should keep an open mind in this regard. Who knows what will or will not work at least it won't hurt, if you keep a positive open mind and your spirits up it's gotta be better than throwing in the towel, there is always something new coming along. there will be detractors and nay sayers but who actually knows for sure so follow up can't hurt and if it helps let us know.

Thanks for the interesting post Sonny. 

I've always thought of acupuncter as something Chairman Mao had the masses do because they did not have access to western meds; at least that's what I read on the web.

Now I've had anecdotal evidence (from this report and individuals I know) that it works!

Yeah, it may be a placebo, or grasping at straws; however, if it worked for one guy it may also work for you.  I'd go for it, what's the downside?
