Start proton beam therapy tomorrow

So, tomorrow is the big day for me. I start my treatment at UPenn for proton beam therapy!

I'm excited and a bit scared at the same time. It's not that I'm worried about the treatment itself, as I'm sure it'll be painless. Well, as painless as it can be to lay on a table with a water filled balloon in your recturm shocked I'm more excited to get the process started and get the 44 treatments behind me.

I'll keep you posted on progress and how I feel throughout the treatment. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Best of luck and sure you will do fine.  I am 10 yr out from proton at Loma Linda.  Have had no side effects and doing good.

good luck to you, may it be painless and more importantly, effective against your cancer. the thing up your bum wouldn't do it for me, i had enough stuff shuffed up my penis to last 4 lifetimes, lol. keep us well posted.

It is exciting to finally come to the starting day, isn't it. I begin my proton treatments in a couple of weeks at IU, but get to experience the joys of the balloon on Thursday for final CT scans.

Good luck, and keep us all posted on how it is going. There are several of us around now on the forum either in the middle of, or just starting, proton at different facilities. Hopefully it will be over before you know it!

Should be smooth sailing, membership in the Brotherhood of the Balloon even if you didn't join officially. Mostly the unknown is your fear factor, apparently you have great insurance...this is also very good.

You will be beaming with joy when it is over, might have a certain glow about you too (LOL). Just kidding, you won't glow in the dark or be atomic....one guy years ago had his daughter coin a screen name on forums for him: Nukedad (John A.) is that man. I also choose a couple screen names, including NeutrondBob ! Where there is a will, there is a Ray!
