I'm a new member wishing I had found this forum 3 + years ago when I had Da Vinci assisted RP. Currently in the Zero Club I have a question regarding recovery from ED. Following successful surgery in 6/08 my specialists were less than diligent in stressing the "use it or lose it" principle with regard promoting erections. As I was a single parent for another 18 months and no serious GF I eventually took up offers of free trial C, V and L oral medication with minimal side effects and only slightly better results. With no insurance deal on these drugs I didn't get into regular use for obvious reasons. Erections gradually got back to about 80%

15 months ago GF changed that and I became more motivated to get "back in the saddle". With the less than effective oral inhibitors I eventually recently was persuaded to try the needle. BiMix was not entirely effective but then TriMix changed all that and "Mr 100%" was the result. A bit of a dull ache from the prostoglandin in the mix but nothing to worry about, not even the inconvenience of accommodating in the jeans a chubby for an hour or so after combat. I have noticed that for days after injecting there is a noticeable increase in bulk and responsiveness of the penis.

My question is - does injection therapy promote rejuvenation of the blood vessels, and if so for how long past surgery is this possible? My surgeon recently claimed new research indicating 4 year window of restoring penile health.

My surgeon told me two years was the cut off in that you "got what you got." But, I believe the old saying that "we're all different" kicks in...

My Uro started me on Trimix injections 60 days post surgery for the blood flow reasons. He told me blood flow restoration was the goal and an erection good enough for sex was the bonus.  This penile blood flow therapy has become a new protocol for treatment after PC surgery with many URO's.

Welcome to the forum!

Thought this earlier posting from James C. might help answer your specific questions on injections and give you some general information on penile rehab.  By the way, Dr. Mulhall's book goes into detail on injections, and in summary, yes the injections do help with penile rehab.

A video presentation titled "Sexual Problems in the Male Cancer Patient", concerning Erectile Dysfunction by Dr. John Mulhall of Memorial Sloan Kettering and author of the book "Saving Your Sex Life." Consisting of 4 parts, total time of about an hour and a half, it contains an address to a PCa Cancer Patient group and contains of of the most through and up to date information available. Well worth the time for anyone who is contemplating their method of treatment after a PCa diagnosis.

Thanks for that great link RCS. Mulhall provides a lucid picture of male "plumbing" very helpful to understand what's going on "down there". Since taking to trimix (only a few weeks) I am noticing improvements to the organ's "feel". I am suddenly having hopes of along term rejuvenation as well as having great induced erections better in some respects than pre-surgery. Thanks for your support.

One other thing my URO told me was that in between injection days to do daily self stimulation for blood flow. In the last week with self stimulation I have noticed that I am getting a small erection with out drugs or injections. For me this is a sign the nerves are healing and that maybe injections will not have to be a permanent solution. The other benefit is that I can now self stimulate in the open, no more hiding in a bathroom smilewinkgrin   My wife was with me at the URO when he told us to inject and try to have sex at least 2 times a week and self stimulate other days, so she knows I am under doctors orders for all of this tongue

Terry you are a brave one for mentioning all this, good thing this is not facebook (lol). Maybe find the 'right' female uro-doc could help speed up these processes! Of course you are doing this under docs orders, maybe we should seek referrals to this guy?

Terry, thanks for your comments. Whether they should be extrapolated out from your few months after surgery to my 3 + years is questionable in the extreme. However I have to say my recent trials of TriMix injections are giving me a distinct feeling of "stirring" and bulking. Also after letting erection subside (about 50 minutes from injection, 25 from orgasm) I felt the erection start to build again. Not wanting to risk priapism I carefully rolled over in bed and tried to think of anything but. In total about a 2 hour very hard erection well suited for bedroom combat!

Morning and there was that "bulked up" feeling and a greater responsiveness than I have felt for a long time. I might try Viagra type orals again interspersed with the injection therapy to see if the uro was right when he said there is a 4 year window for rejuvenation. I'll keep you posted here.
