Still concerned...confusing PSA after Bone Scan

For those of you who read my last thread-- confusing bone scan reveals possible METS to several places on ribs and left hip.

Updated PSA taken last week shows PSA level is .02 (on HT -- Lupron)

Last PSA in July was .03

If the PSA is decreasing should we still be as concerned about the bone scan?

We are waiting to hear back from the Uro/Onc consult. They were going to talk and then advise on whether or not follow up MRIs were necessary of the hip.

 A lower PSA of .02 is great -- can't we just jump for joy?

Just wait and see what the Docs say and go from there.

Concerned,

Steve has given you sound advice. I have a quick question, In researching HT, it seems like the current thinking it to mix Lupron, with Cassodex and Proscar to reduce the testosterone, dihyrdotesterone, and other chemicals in the cell to get the PSA down to the possible lowest level and to keep it in remission. I am very interested in this, since that most likely will be my journey. Are you just taking Lupron?

Yes, he is on just Lupron by itself.

We asked about Cassodex and at the time the doctor said he usually gives cassodex if he suspected bone mets and he gives it before starting Lupron to help mitigate the pain once HT starts. However, he said since he is not convieneced the bone scans reveal mets to the bones he did not feel cassodex is needed.

He did say that if the Lupron began to stop working he could add in another treatment which would continue to decrease the PSA but he said hopefully we wouldn't need to use that for a long time.
