Update on Willie, not good news.

Mary here,

Please take a moment to pray for, send positive thoughts to my darling Willie.

He is in hospital with a subdural hematoma, pneumonia, a urinary infection and very low white blood cell count.

As he was leaving the chemo unit last week, he fell face first onto their concrete floor.

They 'checked him over', sent him home with a couple of ice cubes for his chin and told me to watch for headaches or decreasing consciousness. To return to the ER if these occurred.

He was stiff and sore but attributed it to the fall and kept saying he was fine.

Sunday morning, I found him on the bathroom floor, very weak and unable to tell me what had happened.

Seems his subdural hematoma happened as a result of his chemo unit fall, don't know where/when the pneumonia and infection came into play.

No coughing, sputum, fever or chills. Just an Xray that reads positive for pneumonia.

He's on lots of antibiotics and is responding, the neuro surgeons have declined to operate for the time being, not sure why as he seems to be 'diminishing' slightly each day.

They are following his cultures, esp. the blood cultures (septicemia is a possibility) but so far is clear.

He has improved a bit and his doc says we'll have a meeting early next week and that if things continue to improve, he may be able to come home later in the week. Approx 10 days from now........

We also know that things could suddenly worsen, so again I ask that you send positive vibes to my darling.

Just what you needed! It's hard to believe that the hospital sent him on his way without checking him over better. I hope Willie gets better quickly and you get some good news soon. I'll keep him (and you) in my prayers.

Mary, nothing to offer but my concern for Willie and you. He is lucky to have a loving partner such as you to help him through these tough times. I fervently hope that it gets better.

Mary, I came here tonight expressly in the hope I might find news of Willie, but not this news.

I take comfort that they are talking of a date for Willie to come home.

Be assured, you are both at the top of my prayer list this evening.
