Struck down again and another bit of me gone.

Well here I lie on my own bed at last completely flattened again with another piece of my body dispatched. It's starting to feel like I'm departing this mortal coil bit by bit. I've been somewhat off colour for a month or two with nothing specific wrong but last Saturday, after a fine round of golf, I am driving home minding my own business when a pain hit me in the upper abdomen. This increased in intensity and to the full width of my chest right through to my back by the time I got home. The beloved is in Tasmania visiting our daughter so I was "batching" at the time. Now, this pain was not quite up there with what kidney stones cause but it was not far below it and more widespread. What to do? I'll have a shower and see if that helps ------ no change. I'll put a pack of frozen vegetables on my chest ------- no help at all. By the time I had been home an hour I had decided I'd best get to a hospital emergency. Why did I not call myself an ambulance -------- no, I've got to drive so I can get home easily when they make the pain go away. I arrive at the hospital and can't find a park nearby so I have to walk 500 metres. Final diagnosis, seriously infected and septic gall bladder (Acute cholecystitis) and in need of surgery to remove it.
So now it's gone and I am sore as hell. Thankfully it was done laproscopically.

Billy, my friend, what a horrible experience to go through alone. So glad you are ok now. I am amazed at how small the holes are nowadays for gall bladder removal. Mine was taken out in 1981 also under emergency conditions, but in those days, I ended up with a 9 1/2" scar as the result, and spent 10 days in the hospital. My, how times have changed.

Hope you continue on the mend, no wonder I didn't see you on chat night.

Hope, I don't understand what it is that you are saying. Are you saying that Bill deserves this happening to him - which is what karma could mean. I hope I am wrong because that is pretty nasty, no one deserves any unexpected emergency surgery, especially not Billy, who has been a rock to so many here.

Glad you made it to the hospital, and I guess in a strange way i am glad you are well enough to get sick. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Ah Ann, you are so perceptive and you do know “Hope 1” well.
Out of respect for Tony (TC-Las Vegas) and James (moderators at the time) and for the sake of our forum I remained silent about the previous incarnations of "Hope 1". So far as I am concerned "Hope 1" has now reopened that earlier can of worms with his gloating he was still here (that is the mocking undercurrent of the question "what's it like in NSW") and his other remarks, so my self imposed silence is now off. His worthless comments are water off a duck's back to me of course.
But "Hope 1" is no other than "Tony 04", AKA "NotsobraveBob", AKA "JustBob". AKA "TruckerBill." He had another identity “Naz” bounced out of the breast cancer forum for inappropriate questions.. Members who have been here for a while will know him well. I also believe he currently continuing to play his games with other identities in the forum apart from "Hope 1".

Hope you are still on the mend. I was only 28 when I lost my gall bladder, and I had a tough time back then with it, my daughter was only 2 weeks old when it happened to me, and we had a 4 year old in the house.

Gee David that is terribly young for that operation. I remember my MIL having it done years ago via open surgery and it really knocked her about. That open gall bladder surgery is supposed to be a painful recovery
