Hello HW:

Monday I have an appointment with an ED specialist specifically for the purpose of TriMix injections. It is three and a half years since my LRP and with RT and HT in the mix, recovery on the Ed front has been interrupted.  Are there any specific issues I need to question while there? I've done my research and have tried all the other sources of assistance, ie; meds / pump. Would appreciate any advice.

As a recent convert to trimix, I definitely recommend it. As far as questions go: the tricky part is getting the dosage right. I earned myself a trip to the ER on the third try. I have the dose dialed-in now to be less than an one hour erection. You should discuss dosage adjustment as you begin and what to do if you do have one of the infamous 4+ hour erections.

Get a serious briefing on the syringes and needle gauge. My compounding pharmacy gives syringes with 27ga needles, and 30ga separate, but with no expanation in the kit. The uro used the 27ga, but I'm told the 30ga hurts less.

The pharmacy, when I called, said use the mounted 27ga to fill the syringe, then swap it for the 30ga. Supposedly just punching the seal of the vial dulls the point. But no one explained how to go about that, and let's just say I managed to break a plastic syringe and lose a bit of trimix in the process. My nursing skills are limited.

Off the top of my head …
You need to keep the Trimix refrigerated.
You should never increase the dosage without talking to your doctor.
It will take several injections to get your dosage right, just be patient.
You have to wait 24 hours before injecting again.
You should wait 18 hours before or after taking Viagra.
I’m only supposed to inject 2 to 3 times a week.
You should switch sides every time.
You should have Sudafed on hand, just in case.
Ask about a wallet card in case you have to go to the ER.
I use a 29 gage needle, I’m told smaller ones are prone to bend or break!
Ask how to properly dispose the used needles.
It really doesn’t hurt; maybe a tiny mosquito bite is all.
I truly think it’s mostly the idea of sticking yourself there that causes the apprehension.
If you have any ache in the penis (not from the needle), ask about Bimix.

I concur with the two previous respondents but I am told 48 hours between injections. Start conservative and if no real action, increase by no more than 50% over previous amount - albeit if you are convinced you injected properly in the zone.( 2 and 10 o'clock about mid point from base to end.) Inject slowly after you have primed some blood into the old fella! Gently massage or hand it over to your wife, should be upright citizen within 10 minutes.

Depending on how long you are comfortable with an erection the dose should give you at least an hour. Most men experience an increase in sensitivity and can slowly dial back the amount of the dosage. I used to need close to 1.5, now 1.1 gives me a steel rod for well over 2 hours. There does seem to be a gradual rehab effect if you use Trimix effectively at least 1-2 times a week. I have just started alternating shots with V on other days and have had the best erections yet with oral since surgery 3.5 years ago.

I am 62 years old and have used Trimix now for six years following the removal of my protrate and it works good. A couple of items to be careful with:

1) Go to a pharmacy that has a good solid history of making Trimix. This first pharmacy I went to make the solution double strength which resulted in a lot of pain and suffering on my part (the erection lasted for about 3 1/2 hours and I was in great pain afterwards).
2) The doctor should work with you to get the correct dosage.
3) Keep the Trimix refrigerated, it looses it's potency rather quickly. When I get a new prescription I "cold pack" it until I get home then put the Trimix in the syringes and freeze it until I'm ready to use it.
4) I am using the diabetic needles which works good.
5) It is a little shocking to stick yourself there with a needle until you get used to it.
6) I also daily use the pump when I am in the shower which has resolved my shrinking problems, eliminated the dripping that I was having, and helped reduce the dosage of Trimix that I have to use.
7) One of issues I have with the doctors is that they ask if you can get an erection, but don't ask if you can keep an erection. The Trimix helps with this.

Very good point about keeping the erection. Such is the case with my use of the pump. Stop the vaccuum and it's gone. Will remember to tell him this. Thank you.

Thanks DLC for that - you are the Trimix veteran! Currently I don't like more than 2 hours erection, had an almost 3 hour erection last week and I was starting to get a bit concerned as it was the first of a new vial NAD slightly lower than usual dose.

It's great to be 50+ and be able to MAINTAIN the wood, very 20 year old-like!

Trial #1 for TriMix today with my specialist. He wanted to begin with a lower dose of TriMix and I was able to get about a 60% erection in 10 minutes. Not bad and really normal. No pain whatsoever at the injection site. Lasted about 45 minutes and then another hour later wearing off.  I was disappointed at this first try but my Doc. was thrilled. He kept reassuring me that it takes time and is well worth the wait. Next appointment for my #2 increased dosage is January 3rd. This one's got me a little nervous.  So far no aching feeling whatsoever. I will say that it felt like a real erection to touch and the temperature was the same from tip to groin. I had almost forgotten the way it should feel and respond.  I'm sold on this stuff and still a ways to go. I like how my uro is guiding me step by step. Real caring, so to speak. I may even have to come back a third time to be taught how to inject myself. He just doesn't want me out there on my own as yet. That's good for me. I'll let you know my second visit results.

PS: I did ask all of the questions suggested by you gentlemen. He answered all of them to my satisfaction.

Sounds like you've got a great urn and a great start. I'm still deciding on treatment, and I have no idea what my result in this area will be, but it's great to hear that this can work. In addition to PCq, I'm diabetic and already experiencing some ED problems, so it could easily see more trouble in the future.
