A year ago I had a PSA of 6 and after detection of cancer had robotic surgery.  After surgery my PSA was at .7 then 1.0 so then I went into radiation for 7 weeks.  After the radiation my PSA was still 1.0.  After 3 months it climbed to 1.21 and a month later is at 1.48.  I went to 3 different doctors and they seemed to agree on waiting for two months for the next PSA before any decisions are made on when I start ADT and how much and how long.  My PSA has doubled from .7 to 1.48 in 7 months which they all agreed was a normal PSA growth.  My question is who has went through this and what did you do?

Wondering -- very sorry to hear that.  welcome to the place that no one wants to be cool . you should post your stats -- pre and post surgery.  someone will be with you shortly.  take care.

I am in a similar situation to you, except that my PSA rose from a zero base and I did not have radiation.

Now it is a waiting game, waiting until my PSA gets to a high enough level to justify HT. In the meantime, I am trialling a mostly vegan/low sugar diet which I think is slowing down my PSA rise.

Diet change is not for everyone ~ some here are vehemently opposed to such ideas ~ but if you feel you can handle it, it is worth a try.

My path has been very similar to yours. Had surgery Sep 09 and lowest PSA following surgery was .4 So in December when my PSA was .67 I began 35 Radiation Treatments.

My PSA has continued to climb since then and Sep 2011 it came back at 9.67

I have been very diligent in meeting with my Onco and we have monitored it very closely. In May 2010 scans found a suspicious spot that could have been/or not a MET. It was radiated with 10 treatments. Scans since then have found nothing.

I am presently enrolled in a diagnostic clinical trial and the National Cancer Institute/National Institute of Health in DC.

Sept of 2011 I had my first set of Sodium Fluoride Pet Scans/MRI Scans (2 scans in 10 days). These were done to see if there was any evidence of METS of any size in bones or organs. Also established a base line. Next month, Feb 2012, I go back for a 6 month scan and then have one at 12 months in Sep 2012.

Currently my Onco and I are scheduled to meet in March following this next scan.

I am not currently on HT or any other treatment plan. I have embarked on a healthier lifestyle since the last scan and am in better shape than I have ever been. It is possible that in March my ONCO will suggest that I begin HT so I am trying to get a jump on being in good shape.

To date I am not suffering any ill effects from the rising PSA. I have no symptoms whatsoever. That doesn't mean they are not there, it just means that they have not manifested themselves. I have been continent since surgery and have recovered about 90% from the post surgery ED.
