Just checking in. Hubby had his RALP this past Thursday. Following the surgery I had a chance to speak with the surgeon. He explained news that sounded pretty good. My mind went blank. The entire few months that we have been going through this I have been able to easily have dialogue with his doctors, and ask the right questions. This time though, I started to hear something that didn't sound so bad, and then all of a sudden my mind went blank. I felt stunned, and shocked. I looked at the surgeon with a blank face after what he explained, and asked if he'd repeat everything he just said to me. He kindly did. I got pieces of what he said, BUT I didn't have the questions ready that I KNEW I'd be able to ask just like I had easily done before.
Anyway, this is what I did understand. The surgeon said the surgery went very good. He indicated that the prostate didn't feel firm at all, nor did he feel anything tumor like when he squeezed it, and didn't see anything near the edge. He said he took a sample of a couple of lymph nodes, but said they looked very good. He was able to get a nice firm clamp on his urethera. He was able to spare the nerve on one side and removed the other. He explained that we will get pathology back in about a week. At our consult prior, he was pretty dry (awesome though), and very matter of fact, so when he says it looked good, I felt just a tinge of happiness, and so I HUGGED him (I wasn't shaking his hand). 
I know we have to wait on pathology, but I am enjoying the best news that we could've heard at that time. In the meantime, I am praying for an awesome pathology report! He is in our bedroom resting. What an experience this has been thus far. I can't say enough about his team of docs, and nurses. They have all been amazing!
