Mickey & Hubby,,
You will find incredible solace, support, understanding, comfort and reassurance with your new family here at HW. You are not alone. Take advantage of the many wives at HW and share their knowledge and experience. IMHO, this forum would also be invaluable for your husband as well, if he so inclined. As my URO mentioned to us at our Dx, "PCa is not life threatening, but rather life changing"
Only my advice which comes from hindsight in our PCa journey, as you can see from my signature my RPP was Feb 6, 2012, not too far behind you and your husband, is to remember this "your prostate cancer journey is an us / we disease and must be treated as an us / we journey, do everything together, as you will need each other and each other's strength."
Again, in hindsight I wish I had know about HW sooner than last week, it would have been a "life changer" for both my wife and me and how we deal with our PCa journey. In the last two weeks with the help of the HW forum, we cut alot of the PCa baggage loose so as to move forward with a much more favourable outlook and attitude on our "tomorrows" together.
My respectful advice to you and your husband, based on our hindsight, our expereinces to date and the help from HW these last few weeks is this............be intimate and real with one another about your total feelings about your PCa, discuss your anger, fears, sadness, emotional trauma and exhaustion, even cry together! I wish my wife would have been more open with me as this would have helped me to help her more and in turn help both of us together. In reflection, especially now with healing emotions, I now think our PCa journey has been much harder on her than me. Your husband will get the wrong impression of how you are doing by you only showing your strong side and you will do him and especially yourself a terrible l disservice internalizing your emotional fears. As "walkbyfaith" mentions, this is too heavy a burden for you to shoulder on your own. Remeber what I said earlier, you will need each other and each other's strength.
I hope this helps you both and we all wish you well for the most successful outcome together with your journey. Stay with your HW family, they can really help you both.
Best,
TJ
