How time gets away from us when were busy. The weather has turned to spring and the Pecan Trees have budded out. It is almost time for the big gathering.

Pat and I are headed out on vacation on Sunday for 10 days then we will get the final details out for the event.

Looks like it is shaping up to be the biggest gathering yet.

I can smell the squirrel gumbo already and as a La. boy, I'm not joking!

we will be in Pollock and then N.O. just prior to GFMPH, so if we can bring anything food wise or

other, just let us know.

Dates are April 20-23, that's Friday through Sunday. Of course there are many that are coming in on Thursday (19th) and some not leaving until Tuesday (24th). Then there are some of us that may just stay until we get kicked out.

BTW, I went shrimping tonight, trying to get some fresh Florida Shrimp for the gathering. No luck, dang, I guess I will just have to endure many more wonderful nights out on the water trying to fill my bucket for GFMPH. It's a tough job (lol) but somebody has to do it.

However, I did run over a big ol fat raccoon on the way home, anybody got any good recipes. And should I bring it. I did stop and pick it up just in case.

Can't wait, see you all soon.

Wampuscat, cool the talk about squirrel gumbo. The International Federation  Protecting Southern Squirrels (IFPSS) has an on sight hit order out for one of our attendees. IFPSS has offered a 1 million walnut reward for the immediate eradication of this individual and we do not want to further anger this activist group. If IFPSS has their way they will be asking our group for donations to their reward fund, but the stupid activists do not know most of us have already donated our walnuts. IFPSS is working in conjunction with IFNOPS (International Federation Northern Protecting Squirrels) So I say piss on IFPSS smilewinkgrin

Only 34 more days now and I can not wait.

We will be in New Orleans Wed.and Thursday if Msworrywart needs further convincing. Just meet us at Dick and Jenny's for some of them wonderful corn fried oysters and a few bottles of wine or more if your still not convinced!

Im planning some Pastalaya and Gumbo for the people arriving on Thursday. I have at least 2 guys flying in on Th afternoon in New Orleans.

wampuscat... we may be able to do that on Thursday.

My husband has his last cycle of taxo/carbo on the 12th, so on Thursday he will be a week out... so that might work.

The only thing that could throw a wrench in the plan is if the radiation oncologist schedules an appointment during that week.

Otherwise, we are looking forward to it!

What is Pastalaya?  Sounds like some kind of foreign food, but then again Cajun country is kind of like visiting a foreign land. smilewinkgrin

it is a jambalaya that is made with pasta in place of the rice....mmmmmm good is all I can say.

Alabama is so far away when it comes to cooking. Our state cuisine consists of "Meat and three" with plenty of fried everything. Oh and do not forget sweet tea so Sweet it makes your teeth hurt when you drink it. Alabama sweet tea quality is measured on how much sugar you can dissolve in a quart of tea, the more the better the quality.  Good reason we lead the nation in diabetes.

You don't need baseball or basketball when you can win 2 football championships in 3 years. Hell the state of Alabama is 3 for 3 if you count Auburn sandwiched in between. smilewinkgrin
