Purg,
Respectfully, the world-wide defintion of BCR is as I stated. 99.9% of all research papers I have ever read use this criteria for BCR. I know you have a lot of respect for your doctor, but if he was talking about the cause of a detectable PSA in patients with OC G6 not being benign, Epstien at Johns Hopkins would disagree with him.
Melg please read this link. Make sure your pay close attention to the second to last paragraph.
http://prostatecancerinfolink.net/2009/09/22/surgical-outcomes-for-patients-with-organ-confined-gleason-6-prostate-cancer/
For every case I have read about like this, it more often turns out that the persons PSA stays stable. Yes, I am wrong sometimes too.
Purg, your case is not really applicable in this situation. You had a positive margin, a biopsy Gleason score of 4+3, then 3+4, and a steadily rising PSA after surgery. Based on you post-op pathology it was logical that your rising PSA was not from benign tissue. You can't compare what happened to you to this guy. If you want to compare apples to apples this case is more like Trimix.. I know of a guy on another forum that was OC G6 and after 2 years his PSA went to .2 and now 10 years later it is still there. G6 is a different type of prostate cancer then G7.
Melg, also to make you feel better, the most recent study I found that looked at guys with OC G6 who actually did have BCR, salvage radiation therapy subsequently put them back to undectable. Even if you have BCR you still have another bullet in the gun so to speak. In the last 4 years I have only seen one guy here with OC G6 fail salvage radiation therapy. And acutally I have only seen 2 guys out of 44 who where OC G6 even fail their primary surgery.
Lastly, I am not saying this isn't BCR, but if it is, as Epstein says, it is highly improbable that it will progress.
I hope this helps you relax a little. Please keep us updated.
Chris
