The author of this slide deck did such a great job presenting this stuff to me that I change my thoughts about
the "Integrative approach" to oncology. I also joined the Society of Integrative Oncology as a patient/advocate. Integrative oncology is the concept of treating the mind, body, spirit instead of just a tumor. This concept is based on the premise that we all have cancer cells but living a healthier life both prevents cancers and also improves quality of life after a diagnosis of cancer by using complementary and alternative medicines to treat symptoms and side effects while still using conventional therapies to attacks the cancer. If anyone here has any questions about
a slide or more, let me know. I've seen this presentation a few times over three years, with minor adjustments, and I might be able to answer.
A note about
the third slide here. This is a very busy slide that is hard to read. Dr. Lawenda says he didn't intend for it to distract from the overall picture but it provides an overall glimpse into integrative oncology. Each of the points are described later in the slide deck.
