Met with my Oncologist today. My PSA is coming down 4.35 at 8 weeks. Will have another scan he prefers bone scan (looking for distant) and I want Chlorine of the Dye MRI. Going to talk to Surgeon to see where I can get the higher tech scan and may look for new oncologist somewhere. He said radiation really does not add years to life but gives you more time for reoccurence.
So another scan soon but I am not cured. Gotta find out where the PSA is coming from.

jliggett69,
Sounds similiar to our situation. Read stats below! Just want to share some of our expierences with you.
Is your Oncologist a Radiation or Medical oncologist?
You may not find out where your PSA is coming from as we were told.
Saw 2 radiation Oncologists who wanted to do radiation to pelvis, as we were told that is one way of finding out if there is residual cancer was left behind.
We deceided to seek out a Medical Oncologists opinions, as we have now had 2 more opinions by Stanford and UCSF.
We were put in a clinical study at Stanford using sodium floride/ FDG((pet scan)and that is where we found 1 met to spine.
Stanford Dr.told us radiation to prostate bed wasn't an option as it had moved out of Prostate bed.
UCSF sugessted we would benefit from radiation to spine.
There are all differing opinions and our surgeon states we someday need to take a leap of faith, but we are still compiling info.
My husband has started on HT and his PSA has dropped to 0.3 , for the time being.
This is a journey none of us wants to be on, but this is the place to get support and possibly some inspiration from others traveling down this road. Keep posting on HW for info and help from others before you make a decision on treatment.
GOOD LUCK!

I am in the same predicament. Off to see medical oncologist for opinion tomorrow. On the fence about
radiation at this point. Hang in there, we must.

Let me know what your guy says. My guy is recently out of MD Anderson.
I am leaning real hard for Dattoli right now. Scan me and seed me.

Hey Jig,
I got on this site six moths ago and there was NO ONE in our situation with post RP PSA. Now there seems to. Be several of us in this boat.We searched and searched and finally found this post by myman--

Pax-- hoping all goes well for you tomorrow. Let us all know how it goes tomorrow with the Onc..

Mel,
Dr. Peabody was my surgeon--I thought that was a good name for a uro. Lol. I had good experiences at HF' but not too great outcome.
Great news on your latest psa. You should celebrate and come to GFMPH in Baton Rouge

Thanks, Jim -- I was truly stunned by the latest PSA, for once in a good way. It means another reprieve.
Yes, Henry Ford was a class act in every way, except unfortunately for the outcome!
Do you live in Michigan?
