I see why everyone talks about the nervousness of waiting out the next PSA test. As I've read here, it appears that I wanted the number to go down but not down too much. Well, I was 2.64 at diagnosis and pre-treatment. It jumped to 5.1 three weeks after all treatments ended. Uro says this was to be expected with all the irritation to the prostate. Good news at the Rad Onc yesterday as my new number is 1.3. He liked it and so do I. He says we're shooting for below .5 in the next 12 months or so, but to expect some blips along the way. He says getting below .5 after IMRT/HDR combo treatment like I had, given my diagnosis, gives a real strong (95% or so) probablitiy that there won't be recurrance. He says a decrease of about 25% each 3 months would be expected. I'm headed in the right direction. I feel good today. Now I'll try to put it out of my mind (yeah, right) as much as possible until July.
I just wanted to tell somebody who knows what I'm going through. Thanks for listening - and good luck to all of you on this Forum. I'm just feeling so fortunate that I got tested every year and we may have caught a relatively aggressive G7 fairly early.
