Mary here,
It is with great sorrow that I tell you the my darling Willie is dying.
4 1/2 yrs ago, his surgeon gave him 2 years, maybe a bit more.
He had to stop working after his radiation therapy due to extreme fatigue.
He stepped boldly into chemotherapy therapy, great courage and against even his own best judgement.
Said he wasn't ready to fold like a cheap suitcase, ESP. Not for cancer.
When the chemotherapy failed, like other therapies, none helped for very long, he started a brand spanking new drug that has/ had great potential.
Yes, we got more time than expected, every day with Willie is a day filled with sunshine, even the tough days.
He started having major problems last October.
I'll spare you the details but it hasn't been fun. His life has been precarious on numerous occasions and he nearly died a few times.
The docs have been astounded at his resiliency, he's flown right on by all predictions of his demise....lol. Isn't that just like my darling guy??
Most sadly, his legs 'went' a few months ago and he's been bedridden since.
10 days ago, he suddenly wanted to go over his funeral plans, then told me "it's time".
Last Friday evening, he assured me that 'it won't be long now' and told me finish up everything.
When I arrived at the hospital today, he was curious about
the flyer I had brought along and we chatted about
the cost of clearance tvs.
Suddenly, he went into a sharp decline, a very sharp decline.
Daughter and I were both present and more than a bit shocked at how quickly it occurred.
Daughter is staying the night, I,m heading back shortly as well.
The staff do not like to predict in most cases but the charge nurse told me she wouldn't be surprised at anything Willie does. After a half dozen admissions to her floor, knowing that he's strong and a fighter.....
She did, however, suggest we stay if possible due to his 'steep and sudden decline'.
It's late, I'm exhausted and rambling another version of War and Peace, sorry.
Please send positive thoughts for my wonderful guy.
if he must leave us, I hope it will be pain free and quick, for his sake.
He has been to hell, more than a few times, but his courage and determination to do it his way' has truly amazed those who know and love him.
Thank you all for the years of support, will post again, in a month or so.
Love and stay healthy,
Mary
