First PSA after ralP surgery

Had a 3+4 Gleason taken out after getting a psa 5.4 in jan 2012. Contained in capsule all nodes neg. 0ne side 20% other side 1%. First regular psa is read as less than .06 surgeon says that's good. I thought it should be undetectable? Should I be worried. Thought this crap was out of me

Looks great to me... Some tests can only go so low... But <0.06 is/should be consider undetectable.

If the lab report says < (less than) it means that it is below detectable amount by that lab. (therefore, for all intents and purposes...ZERO.) CONGRATS Z06MAN.

That is very good. Looks like a zero to me.

Z06man, you may as well be Z00man.
Generally, anything below 0.1 is considered undetectable. You are especially good as your first reading.

I don't want to be negative on this but my first PSA after surgery was 0.07, and the next was 0.27 and then 0.57 so had to have salvage radiotherapy.

Hope your next 2 PSA tests are lower, as they are the determining ones.

If you are worried, ask your doctor to do an ultra-sensitive test next time (or now for that matter).  The lower your PSA "nadir" the better, but the test cannot present accurate numbers lower than it was designed for.  And this can cause un-needed worry. I specifically asked for and now get the Immulite 2000 test every three months and get readings of < 0.01. So, the test you may be getting perhaps reports it this way "<0.06".  IMPORTANT, get a copy of the test and read the fine print at the bottom of the page. This may put your mind at ease since it explains what the lower limit will be reported as. I was looking for a 0.001 but then read that the lowest it could report was "<0.01" I am ok with that now. What year/color is yours?

The ultra-sensitive test can cause a lot of needless worry and PSA anxiety..Since no treatment is likely to happen until it is somewhere north of 0.1, the standard test is good enough...You are undetectable, the desired result of your surgery. Enjoy the next four months and play the next hand when it's dealt....

Looks like great numbers. Ask the lab if the number has a < in front of the .06.

Thx for all the responses. This cancer crap can give u an ulcer. Yes there was a less than symbol in front of .06. My URO also said its undetectable.
My z06 is a red 2006 prepped for the road courses Sebring pbir and homestead road course.
