If surgery is deemed to be a valid treatment, it is done first. RT is a mop-up of the surgical area in that case. The path is valid, if you elect surgery over RT as a primary treatment.
Yes, being younger is better in the surgery recovery cycle, but a good surgeon who gets it all right trumps age, as I see it. I was 56 at surgery, but had some really ugly post op results. I am doing as well as I am in the face of every possible negative outcome due to a very good surgeon.
