Prostate cancer survival rates in the US have improved since the intro of (PSA) testing

PSA testing is one contributor but I doubt it explains all of the improvement -- I bet evolving treatment options also play a role. Either way, it's evidence for something I've said and seen many others say on this forum: we are betting on beating the statistics currently available for survival time, because those stats are necessarily based on people diagnosed earlier than us. The journal article looks at survival times starting in 1985 up to 2009, and shows average survival time increased by 60%. And the progress has been greater more recently -- survival rates improved by only 2 months between 1985 and 1994; the real headway came more recently. So we're on a roll, and the roll is picking up speed!

I'm not being a pollyanna. Survival times are still too short and the QOL isn't what I want it to be, but at least it is factual support for what we have to count on. I'll take that as a happy weekend starter!
