Salvage radiation and frequency of urination

Completed salvage radiation therapy 9/15/12 and only lingering side effect is frequency of urination, about every hour, radiologist said it should get better in 2-6 weeks but it seems to be worsening. PSA 11/12 0.04. Bladder control is marginal at times but I don't believe I'm incontinent. Anyone have any experience with similar situation and I keep reading about nerve sparing and a percentage. How do I find out about that?

DaVinci Prostatectomy 11/11, 56 yr old - 3/12 PSA 0.03, 6/12 PSA .075, 7/12 PSA 1.10
Gleason 3+4, T2a, positive margin
1st PSA 3/09 5.4, 2nd PSA 3/11 10.5
Started Lupron 3/11, two 4 mos doses up to surgery. Restarted on Lupron 7/12, received 2nd 4 mos injection this month, 11/12 and scheduled for another on 3/13 to have 1 year on this and then they'll stop it. I'm questioning the value of being on the Lupron for that long but my doc says it has a synergistic effect with the radiation and says it's best I stay on it for a year. Thoughts? Thanks much!

I had a slight increase in frequency, and also more urgency. When I had to go, I had to go.

I would ask your doctor for a prescription for the frequency. There are several drugs out there that should help reduce the frequency.

All of my side effects pretty much disappeared after 2 or 3 months, so hopefully things will get back to "normal" for you fairly quickly.

I think Flomax is used more often for guys who still have a prostate. This would include guys who had radiation as their primary treatment who have prostates that glow in the dark. I am almost done with my adjuvant IMRT and when I was about half way through my rad onc put me on Flomax which did nothing. My uro switched me to Vesicare which helps some. Vesicare is more-or-less the lady's version of Flomax and it seems to work better with my new girlish plumbing.

I believe my frequency is up a tad and it doesn't take as much to make me want to go. However, I figured out that I can ignore the low grade urgency since I don't "really" have to go. That doesn't mean I don't go when I get the urge; it's just that I know I can get by for quite a while if facilities aren't available. It also means I take advantage of facilities when available because I'll wish I had later.
I just live by what my mother told me when I was young and go before getting in the car.
