The milk we drink... link to cancer

Can someone explain the fact that while we are surrounded by all these poisons of the industrial world our life expectancy has gone from 38 to 78 in just 200 years. A world that could only support no more than 2 billion people for thousands of years now supports 7 billion.
Let's go back to the good old days where you worked all your life, 24/7, to put a scrap of food on the table only to die in your third decade.
I'm with you Clock. The average person today lives far better and far longer than the richest kings of old, and still finds time to complain of all the world's ills.

My two cents here: with tens of thousands of wireless "hot spots" around the country, I gotta wonder what all those microwaves are doing to our body. We worked hard to eliminate second-hand cigarette smoke due to the hazards of breathing it in. Now, everyone, everywhere is subjected to these invisible radiation dangers all because folks gotta use their smart phones or iPads everywhere they go.

My prediction is that in 20 years or so, science will find that the dangers from wireless connections that surround us will make second-hand smoke look like a walk in the park, primarily because we knew where the second-hand smoke was and could avoid it. Now, with these hot spots, there's no place to go to get away from it, and we never know when we're exposed or for how long.

We spend millions of dollars on studies for just about everything, and most of them are inconclusive. For a few weeks, we panic, then go back to our lives. Unless we are willing to change, the threat to the health of future generations will remain.

milk, chemicals, drinking water, radiation and their connection to our health are all related.

As far as computers go, my sister actually turns hers to airplane mode when her kids are using them.

And my surgeon had a whole thing on Fox news about smart cell phone use and the harm it may do. Definitive proof is not conclusive yet but there is a definite link as it pertains specifically to young children and the elderly.

A few years ago a major cell phone carrier struck a deal with a college very near to my house and was planning on building a 3G tower on their property. I and some other neighbors went to complain at our town hall and in the end it wasn't built. I remember though that reports I read at the time stated that connections between the towers and harmful radiation were overstated.

I'm no, activist, in fact, my main concern at the time was regarding the aesthetics of the tower. However it seems like common sense that we need to better understand, regulate and limit certain practices that very clearly can or will affect our environment in ways that will eventually harm our children.

Regarding phones, this is a link in German, but on the left of the screen you can look up a model based on the "SAR value": very low, low, medium and high. I have a phone with low radiation 0.4 to 0.6 W/kg. I don´t use my phone much, but I guess someone who spends several hours a day talking should pay attention to these SAR values: www.handywerte.de/index.php

Here is my soap box for what it is worth!! has nothing really to do with anything but it does to a point!
There is a documentary called "Living Down Stream" I want to see it because it point out something all of us should be concerned about, what people do to the water upstream is what you are going to consume downstream whether that is under ground or above ground.

Now I am a Conservative Republican, However
I am a Pro Conservationist. I have always been concerned against our parties wishes on these issues:
I like forests ( I hike and camp)
I like nature (I hunt)
I own guns (I like to kill things and eat them [img]/community/emoticons/tongue.gif[/img] ), I have hiked, camped and hunted in many of our great open lands in our country.

However
[Edited] we must be stewards of the land water and air. I do not want to go camping next to a oil rig. I want my kids to see and experiance what I had seen and experianced.

I have bladder cancer because of being poisoned from things we buy and use. I do not blame anybody but my self, because I have been a steward of the land for many years before this cancer got me. It was from a daily habit of warming my food with plastics in the micro wave, I still use plastic to store some of my food, just do not heat it up.

I like to put a balance and common sense into what we advocate and what we do not. Sometimes we hold a position becuase of who we align ourselves next to. I think we should fight our political positions to have a more moderate view on things (both ways).

OK, this has gone too far. Whether you're a "conservative Republican" or an anarchist is irrelevant. Your post has taken this thread to a political extreme that is unjustified and counter to the rules of the forum. I resent your implication that the Republican party does not respect the land or the environment. That's a stereotype that doesn't deserve serious discussion.

I encourage the mods to shut down this thread. True Conservative Republicans, like true liberal Democrats, have great respect for the land. If there's pee in our water, I'm pretty sure it's put there by people of all political persuasions. If you think you're a conservationist "against our party's wishes," then I can only say you don't really understand the Republican Party or conservatism.

I'll let the mods decide. I find his comments about Conservative Republicans to be unfair, inaccurate, and in violation of the rules here on HW. They were also entirely unnecessary. Let's see what the mods think.

Back on the topic of milk - since I have been on a weight loss diet, I have cut out cow's milk and instead gone to almond milk. I was surprised that I found it to taste pretty good - for a lower-fat alternative. It is also higher in calcium. Just in case someone is interested in an alternative. I plan to continue using it as a replacement when I am finished with the diet.

On the subject of growth hormones in milk - my wife and I made it a point to get Altadena milk from the grocery for the entire duration of our kid's lives - they claim to not feed growth hormones to their cows. Both had very late puberty compared to modern-day averages. I obviously don't know for sure whether it made a difference or not.
