I had a birthday this weekend and had a good chance to consider how blessed I am..In addition to the best wishes of family and friends I have reflected on how this forum has contributed to my life in a positive manner...I continually see everyone trying to help men afflicted by this terrible disease..Tony, John T, Zufus, and many others provide cutting edge information on the latest treatments and drugs..the "seed man" and lieutenant offer free advise and keep our spirits uplifted..Jerry L and many others take action to defeat the "Recommendation"..Yes, Bud and his "warrior" women are the heart of this forum and even though we all know that he is "hurting" he continues to try to help..
As we all know, the women helping their men should be classified as saints...I've left many people unnamed, but with a group like this we will kill both the "beast" and the "recommendation"--Amen

Wow my brother you are going to get me in trouble with the Bud's "warrior" women comment!

Our sisters here are Prostate Cancer Warriors just as all our brothers are. I'm in awe of each and every one of our sisters and our brothers.

I'm honored and blessed to have so many people who - guys and gals - who care about me and speak well of me.

Every one here, every member of our HW family contributes to our awesome family. A family I'm humbled and proud to be a part of.

There are others here who are hurting more than I, actually other than some mild fatigue my latest treatment is going very well.

gunfighter - in the short time you have been here, you have made a positive impact. I've really been impressed with your posts my brother.

A happy (late) birthday wish for you, and many happy returns of the day, sir.

I couldn't agree more with what's being said here. And if I have been serving as an uplifter, it is only because I myself feel so uplifted by seeing such courage, determination, and hope in the posts I see from so many of you on here every day.

While on active duty in the army, I was once commended by my company CO (Commanding Officer) for giving good "pep-talks" to the men, so I guess it comes naturally. But if in doing so I can succeed in offering even just a little encouragement to just one or a few of you, then my presence here on the list has been time well spent.

I especially agree with the Captain that our sisters here on the list are always "outstanding" (the highest word of praise that the military has to offer). A special salute to them. Heaven knows they have their hands full taking care of their own men, getting them to appointments, gathering information for them (as here), tending to their care, and yet, they always find the time to offer a kind and encouraging word to the rest of us, share our gladness when we get a good test result, frequently post valuable links to useful information for us, and the list goes on. As someone said on another thread once, sisters, you really DO rock!

Celebrating a birthday really is a good symbolic action. It means that we have lived another year, the beast has been beaten back for another year, and the hope that a new year always brings is there.

It's an absolute pleasure to associate with all of you!

Happy belated Birthday. My dad's 83rd birthday was Friday. I told him (and this applies to you) that January birthdays get to extend their birthdays for the whole month. So, enjoy birthday wishes for a few more weeks.

HW is a great place because of people like you. It is a gift we all were given; a gift that keeps on giving.

And thank you for the kind words. People ask me many times how I became knowledgeable about prostate cancer and many things medical. Lots of research, attending seminars with qualified speakers, and lots of listening to folks right here is the right answer. I have a great network of prostate cancer smart friends but I still learn from folks who come here to post for their first time. Never stop learning and never close the door to information is the advice I give. Even when you hear what you don't want to hear there's usually a lesson hidden in the words...

It does not matter if it's the guy diagnosed, the son, daughter, wife, partner, friends, or anyone. I don't alway execute the two ears one mouth rule well, but since I've gotten better at it, I've become more effective at sharing what I hear and see...
