Hubby noticed a pattern with night sweats

My husband had his first Lupron shot about two months ago.  He recently started experiencing some of the vaunted side effects- hot flashes and night sweats.  This morning he told me that he has noticed a pattern with the night sweats.  When he lays on his left side- he soon starts to sweat.  When he lays on his back, he has chills.  When he lays on his right side, NO PROBLEMS! 

I have a fairly decent working knowledge of anatomy, but I haven't been able to figure out the cause of this. I am certain there must be some explanation.   I was wondering if any of you guys on HDT have had similar experiences? Or if you can explain it (other than it all being just in his imagination)?  yeah

My wife habitually rolls right to left in her sleep. She does this to steal my warm spot in the covers. When she rolls that way it winds my warm covers onto her side of the bed and her covers onto the floor beside her. If she rolled over the other direction she would be cold.

Which side of the bed does he sleep on? When he lays in these various positions, which part of his anatomy is hanging out in the cold?

My husband started HT December/2012. He has only had one night of night sweats so far. I am sure more are to come. I wil try to get him to watch for this and let you know.

I saw your other thread about the how difficult it is sometimes to be the caregiver when you could use a bit of TLC yourself. Wished I could be more help but I am trapped here on the other side of the screen and all I can do is answer questions and try to be someone to talk to. Then I remembered this thread where you didn't get a lot of responses and thought I would bump it it let people look at it again over the weekend. Maybe you'll get more information.

I haven't had any hot flashes yet but my wife has had them for years and there are a few things she has noticed that might help explain what you are seeing. One thing is that she is fairly sure that waking up can trigger some of her hot flashes rather than the other way around (the hot flash wakes her up.) She noticed that she will often sleep the whole night and then wake up with a hot flash when the radio alarm clock goes off. If you husband sleeps more soundly on one side than the other, and if my wife is right that waking up can trigger a hot flash that might explain the one side vs the other bit.

As for his getting cold when he lays on his back, laying on your back is the coolest position to sleep in. When you lay on your side gravity presses your legs together and presses your arms against your torso. You have a lot less exposed skin and you stay warmer. Sleeping on your back lets air circulate between your arms and your torso and between your legs. It makes you cooler. People who get hot flashes at night but sleep through them will tend to flush (which expends body core heat to warm the skin) and to perspire. After the hot flash passes they often wake up cold and clammy.

LOL- ancient Chinese secret (only isn't a secret actually), if you added a stupid estradiol patch onto your body (say .1 or maybe even a low .025), it will in fact cancel the hot flashes and sweats and assist with bone density and help memory, too. Sadly, the medical heirarchy doesn't endorse this, but truth is that it works and is not freakin dangerous and it can fight hrpca also. There are a few guys on this forum whom have done so and know so. I had Lupron still in my system( 1-2 months left), when I quit using it and went to DES another estrogenic drug, it cancelled my side effects within days and also outperformed my ADT3 combo I was using and was day and night difference in side effects and effectiveness.
