I had a full body bone scan last week.  My PSA is 78.  The HOT SPOTS showed up in my pubis bone area and one in my lower ribs.  I had a biopsy last Monday and results not back yet.  The biopsy will show the severity of the HOT SPOT area.  It can be cancer, degenerative bone desease, arthritis or infection.  Any of the above will elevate my PSA to a  large number.  Hoping it is not cancer, however, is all of the potential situations treatable?  ANY HELP HERE IS GIVING ME SOME PEACE FOR A FEW DAYS?

We have all been there and know how you feel, but it's better to wait to see what the DX is of your Biopsy. Take a deep breath and know we are all here to give support.
It would be helpful if you add your signature with your stats when you get your biopsy results, that way others can chime in and may shed light on their similar situations.

Brother - there is really nothing you can do until you get the results of all the scans. No matter what it comes back as - there are treatments available.

Calm down, go do stuff you enjoy doing, put this crap out of your mind as much as you can.

Artessto1: bone metastases, as far as I know, means only one thing: cancer that has spread to the bones. Metastases do not refer to the other causes of the "hot spots" on your bone scan. Arthritis or any injury or disease of the bone will show up on a bone scan but I'm not sure that any of them would elevate PSA levels. Arthritis is treatable as is an infection.

You wrote that you had a biopsy last Monday...was this a prostate biopsy or a bone biopsy? If it was a bone biopsy, have you had a prostate biopsy?

I'm sorry that you're experiencing such worry...many here have been where you are. Sadly, until you get the results of the biopsy, there isn't anything that can be done til then. Good luck to you, and we hope you come back and let us know how everything turned out.
