pelvis mri before cancer?????

Has anyone had there urologist order a MRI of there pelvis when cancer has not been found yet. I have had psa's of 8.45 8.55 8.14 in the last year and I was about a month late getting my last one done (8.14). When I spoke to my doctor (John Hopkins Dr. Han) he didnt converse with me like usual he just said he is ordering a MRI of my pelvis. I was freaked out so we just got off of the phone. Everything I have read says mri's are done on the pelvis to see if the cancer has gotten out of the prostate. I had a saturated biopsy done 1-15-12, they took 30 cores with no cancer found. Someone told me its the new normal when everything suggest cancer but hasnt been found with biopsy's I have had 6 or 7 (lost count) biopsy's over the last five years. I dont know what to think and like I said I am a little freaked out by the whole thing.

Yes, MRI done before my biopsy. One suspicious spot which turned out to be OK.

Thanks Akai, I have always been concerned about pc (if I have it) geting out of the prostate I dont know why there having such a hard time finding something (7-biospys) kinda got a bad feeling about this though

I don't know about the MRI issue , but do know that DR. Han is a respected and nationwide expert on PCA and helped develop nomagrams{google} for PCA. So have you had these high psa'sover the last 5 years also. PSA history would be could for other members, so has to add there knowledge

My psa was around 2.3 in 2006 and has gadually gone up to 8.14 last week. A couple of years ago it went from 5.7 to 3.9 six month later. But then it went back up to 4.7 and continued up from there.

How about your freePSA? Also, have you ever had a PCA3 test done?

Doctor Duke Bahn in Ventura Calif specializes in using color doppler ultrasound biopsy to find PCa. Search youtube for his video. There are other doctors using the same technology.

Thanks again Akai, since I have gotten on this web site I have learned that my Doc. (DR. Hon John Hopkins brady institute) is held in high regard.After reading the thread you sent me seems to make a lot of sense to narrow down any bad areas before biopsy, which that is what I am guessing my dr. is trying now. I am now having side effects of all of the biopsy's (urination,ed sometimes) and if its not cancer the damage is aready done. So at this point I am just going to leave everything in my doc. hands and pray he makes good choices.
