Some of the reknown centers for PCa for radiations and onco-docs in lower Michigan are: Karmanos Cancer Center(aka-DMC), U of Mich., Beaumont. Dr. Jeff Forman is kind of a reknown radiation doctor to consider, maybe Dr. Arterberry (Crittenton for radiations), U of Mich. considered good on both (Dr. Ken Pienta oncologist I would take over Hussein). Karmanos has a female oncologist on PCa whom is highly regarded with a strange name. There are some others whom are less well known in lower Michigan whom can be good choices.
Depending upon how much of your own advocate you wish to become on PCa, you might like having an independent oncology type, whom could or would write script
s for some of the drugs that major centers just do not use, some of those are cheaper and effective which is very interesting to note. See www.hrpca.org to get an idea of drugs used on PCa by many patients. Are you closer to Detroit or where?? I interviewed a few onco-docs and later chose one I didn't know about
and whom is independent and
open minded and very patient friendly and fair, been with him almost 9 yrs. and not looking to switch. I got script
s for things that you just don't get usually from others and suits me very well. Some of these PCa drugs you won't know if they work for you, unless you personally try them...that's how wild PCa is as you will figure out. It is a unique jungle to navigate in getting a couple of opinions can be enlightenment too. I originally picked Karmanos for radiations in 2002 and for various reasons, but it was my primary treat, I was refused surgery by Dr. Menon (correctly I may add too).
