I have had four Inguinal hernia repairs .... one included the installation of mesh.
When I had my prostate removed (DaVinci), the surgeon did state that he thought the mesh might be a problem and that if it was he would switch to open surgery. As it turned out, he was able to get under the mesh with the robot, and the operation went off without a hitch.
I did have an incisional hernia a couple of months after the DaVinci, at the sight of the navel incision. This was a quick fix (a mesh was put in). If you are prone to Inguinal hernias, and you chose surgery, you might want to consider talking to the surgeon about installing mesh when the RLP is done.
