I hate this @#%&ing diisease

I hear you Todd. We just lost a dear friend to colon cancer at age 60 2 months ago. Watching her husband try to be anything less than miserable without her is so hard

sorry to hear of still another cancer death. all cancer sucks ,and you are right, its never fair when it takes another life.

Have you ever thought of it this way. When our body dies so does the cancer and yet if you believe as I do our spirit and our mind lives on. We will all beat this crap even iif we have to shed our skin to do it. Todd

Yesterday my wife visited a friend of hers who had surgery for breast cancer. Her friend is still facing possible chemo at some point.

I know too many that have been touched by this.

i hear ya Todd.  i went to a "wake" for a buddy of mine this weekend who was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer last year.  he's still alive but he's fading fast and wanted to see his friends for a last time.  this guy took me to my first 12-step meeting about 25 years ago and was my RE agent when i bought my house.

he went to the doctor thinking he needed muscle relaxers for a gimpy leg but by the time he was told to wrap up his affairs because he only had 6-8 months left to live.

In the last six months I lost my niece, age 43 and mother of four, and my next door neighbor, age 55, to this terrible disease. Neither made it two years from their diagnosis and underwent excruciating treatments. Last week I learn that my third girlfriend from junior high has a terrible brain cancer and won't make it another six months. She has what Valerie Harper (Rhoda) has. Another high school classmate had the same thing three years ago. She pursued all the treatments and made it all of 18 months.

Todd, you are right....we have this body on this earth, but one day we will be in another place, hopefully cancer free. But why does this disease have to take such a physical and mental toll? My niece and friend fought with all their might and had the best doctors' treatment and were miserable the whole time. My former girlfriend has decided not to have surgery, chemo and whole brain radiation. Rather, she is going to hug her grandbabies as long as she can.

I read the book "Emperor of All Maladies" and the basic conclusion is that this crap is our own bodies turning against us. It will eventually happen to all of us. Just a matter of when, how, and how quickly. Thankfully, neither of my parents dealt with cancer and passed peacefully ansd naturally in their ninetys.

I know one day treatment will fail. I hope that is a few more decades down the road. I will not ggive up. I will not stop fighting ever. I am a warrior. we all are warriors. I willkeep speaking on behalf of my brothers until there is a cure.

To all who have lost brothers and sisters to this terrible disease (reachout, maldugs, casper319) - so sorry, I cannot imagine...One thing to loose a parent, another to loose your best friend,another human being with the same genetic makeup as yours, who probably loved you more than anyone else in the world. Someday we will find the cure.
