march was a good month for me! OT pictures.....

i had my lowest PSA reading since i embarked on this hellish PC journey -- .1 which is essentially zero for a radiation guy.  i was cancer free when i turned 58 on the 23rd! 

i bought a new camera and we have trips planned to yellowstone/grand tetons in june and the big island of hawaii in december. 

physically and emotionally i feel better than i have in years and while that lasts i plan to enjoy myself and take plenty of pictures  cool !

here's what i got on the monterey peninsula last weekend.

great report, Ed, reason to be happy to be alive for sure

you are certainly great with the camera

if I felt better, I would be trying to get back into my HD documentary film work, I basically gave it up almost 2 years ago, just when I was starting to enjoy it. Perhaps one day.

absolutely fantastic, Ed. Lovely pictures, everyone of them. And lovely country too.

Do you ever use HDR? Teh night shot there seems to be HDR.

What camera is it exactly?

thanks David!  the camera is the 5d mark III, which is the best SLR for HD video, and a monster in low light.  the 5d3 has in-camera HDR but i was not too impressed with it because output is a jpeg file.  the third shot in the series was in-camera HDR.  i have resolved to get a proper HDR program this year!

Great shots, but especially the one of the Mexican dining room and the kneeling monk in the chapel. The lighting is amazing.

Congrats on the PSA number. May it ever be so.

good eye clocknut.  those shots were very dark and that's where this camera excells.  the kneeling monk is at the foot of the tomb of father junipero serra -- founder of the california missions. at serra's feet is a bear cub.  really cool.  i'll post another picture of the tomb to the series.

Ed congratulations.

Those pictures are wonderful. Reminds of Redding, Eureka, Avenue of the Giants and all of that stuff. Beautiful.

David -- those are great you have the eye of an artist and that can't be taught.  i'm really envious.  which program do you use now for HDR?  i wouldn't mess with in-camera HDR.  i see it more as a gimmick for now.  you'd love either the canon 6d or 1d mark III.  BTW is that you in the rear view mirror?

thank you everyone. photography is my passion along with travel and i haven't been able to enjoy myself as much as i did pre-PC but i'm working on getting my mojo back!  2008 and 2009 were dream years for me and 2010 was hell :-) .
