Hi all

Firstly I would like to say a big thank you for all the advice given to me on this forum.
My dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer, gleason 10 with widespread bone mets in January.
Hormone treatment didnt work and he became really poorly. He is currently in hospital and all treatment was withdrawn on Tuesday of this week. He is not expected to live more than a couple of days now but is being kept comfortable with morphine and sedation.
My dads was obviously unusual in its aggressiveness and not responding at all to hormone treatment but I would like to say to the rest of you still fighting this horrible disease....keep fighting and one day you might win the battle!

I join the others in sharing your sadness. I am so sorry to hear how aggressive it was and that the end is coming near. I hope & pray that his passing is very peaceful & painless.

Resident of Highland, Indiana just outside of Chicago, IL.
July 2011 local PSA lab reading 6.41 (from 4.1 in 2009). Mayo Clinic PSA Sept. 2011 was 5.7.
Local urologist DRE revealed significant BPH, but no lumps.
PCa Dx Aug. 2011 at age of 61.
Biopsy revealed adenocarcinoma in 3 of 20 cores (one 5%, two 20%). T2C.
Gleason score 3+3=6.
CT of abdomen, bone scan both negative.
DaVinci prostatectomy 11/1/11 at Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN), nerve sparing, age 62.
My surgeon was Dr. Matthew Tollefson, who I highly recommend.
Final pathology shows tumor confined to prostate.
5 lymph nodes, seminal vesicles, extraprostatic soft tissue all negative.
1.0 x 0.6 x 0.6 cm mass involving right posterior inferior,
right posterior apex & left mid posterior prostate.
Right posterior apex margin involved by tumor over a 0.2 cm length, doctor says this is insignificant.
Prostate 98.3 grams, tumor 2 grams. Prostate size 5.0 x 4.7 x 4.5 cm.
Catheter out in 7 days. No incontinence, occasional minor dripping.
Post-op exams 2/13/12, 9/10/12, PSA <0.1.
Semi-firm erections now happening 14 months post-op & slowly getting a bit stronger.

I am so sorry for your family. I will pray for a peaceful passing. One that gives you all a chance to say your last I LOVE YOU. I know you may not want to remember him this ill but some video or some pictures as you relive some good memories, may be nice to have in the days to come. I pray for your family to have the strength to make it through the hardest of days.

Please remember you are still part of our family here and are welcome at any time

So sorry to hear about your father. I hope you have other family around so that you can support each other during this difficult time
