Not what I expected...

 ...Well, I confirmed my PSA jump from 2.4 to a 217 with a follow on reading at another clinic with a 238.  Today I got the results back from my bone scan....not too good.

Multifocal increased uptake throughout the anterior and posterior ribs...multiple levels in the thoracic and lumbar spine, the manubrium and sternum...the bony calvarium (skull) and cervical spine. also spread to shoulders bilaterally. It states this new mottled pattern is consistent with widespread skeletal metastatic disease. some visible uptake in the Kidneys bilaterally and the urinary bladder.

Looking at the scans which I asked to get copies for....they put both the original and current scans side by side on my CD so I could compare.  They also sent the results to my new Medical oncologist who I see this Thursday.  I have not discussed this with my Uro either...his apt is the next day on the 12th. 

Was wondering why Ive been having wicked headaches lately and backaches as well.  I went from no symptoms to painful symptoms in 2 weeks.   Currently Im just taking Motrin to ease the pain and is working fair.  As Ive mentioned earlier...I was also contacted by a clinical study Doc about starting Xtandi by itself and a follow on study that puts me on provenge and Xtandi at the same time.  Im gonna wait and talk to my Medical Oncologist, Uro and clinical study Doc to see how they feel....

Not what I was hoping for but Im ready to tackle the next treatments.....chris

That's quite a jump. I was looking at your PSA history in your signature and see that your doctors stopped taking the PSA in October after it showed a doubling time of less than 4 weeks. Was that by design? I mean I know it's moot, but you high risk guys I would think need to be monitored closely when such jumps start happening. Your PSADT has been a consistent period of about three weeks for over a year.

Provenge and Xtandi can slow this thing down. I know that they have a proven track record. I have a guy here in Vegas that started his HT and it brought down his PSA from 63 to 1.9, but it didn't stay there long. He was switched to Xtandi and Provenge right away when his PSA started to rise and it did a great job of slowing this monster.

I'll keep you in the thoughts and prayers...

Wow I'm shocked and sorry to read your post.  Crummy news, but you're handling it amazingly well.  I hope you and your team figure out a great response, that turns this around and gives you some pain relief to boot.

very sorry to hear your news. still shaking my head on your report. that's some pretty wide spread mets going on, and in so many places. make sure your doctor gets you on some decent pain meds, before it gets bad, no need to suffer with any extra pain.

hope your new oncologist and you come up with a good plan to go forward. wishing the best for you, and hoping for something good to happen for you.

What you are looking for with your spicy chicken wings is to get them spicy enough for you wife to complain but not spicy enough that she doesn't eat them. Perfect is if she complains about each wing as she eats it... including the two wings she steals off your second plate full.

I'm so sorry you are facing this. I hope you have a good support system close by and a doctor who will address any pain issues quickly. Joining a study sounds like a good idea because studies show that people on studies do better than those not on them.

Hi Chris, not so good but you have such a positive attitude.
I have been looking for help/support on the internet for the last month since my biopsy results, with others who have a really high PSA level and really struggled with my search, until finally found this site & forum. Looks like lots of good support here.

My PSA score was 246, Doctor said he'd never had anyone with such a high score and especially at my age (45) after DRE confirmed cancer, tumours on both sides of prostate, Gleason score is 7, now awaiting bone and MRI scan results.

Is been a bit of a shock, going to docs one week with what I thought was a urine infection, to have urine and blood tests taken, and being taken in for biopsy within a week and being told that I had a serious risk of having Prostate cancer, to having it confirmed a couple of weeks later.

Not so pleased with the bone scans, although I have more experience with bad bone scans than good wings.
