I am new to the forum and have a question. My uro put me on 30 days of antibiotics to see if my psa (7.5) will get lower. How long do i wait after finishing my 30 days of taking the antibiotics before i get my blood drawn to see what psa is?
I have had four biopsy's and all were negative. My psa has been between 4 and 9 over the last 5 years.

should be able to have that next PSA test as soon as you are through, what did your doctor say?

wow, 4 biopsies. I had 3 before my cancer was found, first 2 were negative.

I'd check with your Dr when you can retest.
Keeping everything crossed the antibiotics bring it back down for you.

I would also suggest getting a free PSA blood test as well. (Higher is better with that test.)

Thanks so much for the replies and good wishes! It sure helps to hear from others who are dealing with similar conditions. I just got back from doctor's office and i did request them to check for total and free psa. The last psa test only showed total psa and in want to construct my psa velocity chart, including total and free psa. Does prostrate density give information that is useful in finding the chances of getting Pca? I read about PCa3 but do not understand it, can any one tell me what that is?

I had three biopsies also, third one was the unlucky one. My PSA's were between 4-9 for 10 years. I had the same routine, antibiotics to see if the PSA would drop then had another PSA after the antibiotics were finished.

PSA density is PSA divided by size of prostate.
A result under .11 or so is hopeful indicator.

Make sure you have the blood drawn either before or at least 2 days after getting a DRE or ejaculating.
Be consistent.
