Achy breaky butt aches.

I'm 1 month out from daVinci surgery this Friday.

How long does the ache in the bum last where the prostate used to be?
I still can't sit on anything but a soft chair or cushiony seat.

Don't remember down to weeks, but it was at least 3 months for me. Three years later I still keep the dougnut cushion at hand, just in case.

It was a good 6 months before I could sit on anything not padded. Stay away from wood benches and bar stools too.

Yeah, I don't sit on anything unless it's padded heavily...lol

I assume it could be that long also for the pain in the tip of the penis after urinating?

After the first week, I was good to go!

I had my Da Vinci done March 26th, and I still have that achy breaky butt feeling. It is getting better each day but ever so slowly. I still have a pain when I urinate and my abdomen hurts quite a bit still from the 6 punctures.

And, I had an umbilical hernia repaired that I didn't even know I had, and that has contributed a good bit of fun too.

It seems I am taking a bit longer than average to recuperate from these various ailments.

Let's hope we start improving faster!

I had the same issue until I finally discovered--at least in my case--it was gas in the colon putting pressure where the prostate used to be.  Watching what I ate and good old stool softeners did the trick for me.

I have been lucky so far and have escaped any pains when sitting, even on hard chairs. But, yesterday and today I have felt very bloated and gassy. Not fun. Taking my Colace and prune juice, and going to go back to softer/more liquids foods. Hope that will help.

I didn't have any problems until I took a bike ride. Even with a cushioned seat it was unbearable. I saw a recent post about a different saddle that I might look into.

Those donuts will fit a bar stool nicely, I was on one the nite catheter came out. be sure its a capts. chair kine tho, for obvious reasons. Man's gotta know his limits…..

I'm about 7 weeks out, like the other ones, still using a cushion on most seats. It does get better every day I bought an oblong cushion from Kohl's Drug Store, it has a larger center hole and is definitely more comfortable, with or without the cath. Believe it was $21, money well spent.

It might make you feel just a teeny bit better to know I had problems sitting on hard surfaces after my brachytherapy. It went away after 2-3 weeks, but even with a procedure that is less invasive, it was still an issue for me...

At the nine week mark, I still have the aches, especially when I ride my exercise bike. I do a lot of squirming. Like Reltnie said, having gas can be a pain too.
