Forum Guidelines

Just a gentle reminder for all.

We have a great thing going here but from time to time it's good to remind us what guidelines have been put in place for what experience tells us is best practice here at the HealingWell forums. Here's a link to help ya:

The forum rules have some pointers about the folks who volunteer here including a mention about trying to take concerns about moderator actions offline as a best practice. We do make mistakes and we are human and will listen. No hard lines in the sand exist and we are given levity to make our own calls but that too can be unpopular.

Please do your best and we'll try to do ours with the basics. Our enemy is prostate cancer. Let's keep it that way.

I agree Nancy. This forum is one of the best managed forums available, and I am thrilled to have it available to search for information, and to offer support and guidance to new guys.

At our recent GFMPH gathering, several of us opined to the two mods, and the two retired mods just how great a job they are/were doing. I applaud their efforts. Occasionally I think a contentious thread should be allowed to play out, however I must acknowledge that I do not possess their experience in this area.

Overall, they do a great job, and I thank them for it.

Herding cats is a challenge! I think the moderators do a great job and I vote we double their pay :)

I'll concur ... the hard work the moderators do to foster this forum is a true gift, touching and brightening countless lives, including mine. Thank you!

And it does help to review the 'rules of the road' from time to time. When i was new, i risked stepping outside some pretty bright lines without thinking. Those rules are there to foster everything else.

I, for one,feel that contentious topics or threads that turn toxic can ruin a good site. I just went through that experience on a forum where I had posted around 1,300 times. The mods seemed to have turned their backs on the forum and the know-it-all types had a field day. It took about 6 months to turn a really feel good forum not unlike this one to bite the dirt. So I vote we TRIPLE the mods pay . . . Q

Tony, great post, but I had to chuckle when I read that the mods are "given levity."  Maybe you meant "given latitude"?  (or "leeway")

Or, maybe you guys are, in fact, given levity
