Hi All,
Its been sometime since I last updated my fathers' condition.
He started with taxotere in Jan 2013 and PSA came down from 100 to 85 with two rounds. However with the third round it went upto 280 and then to 650. So he failed taxotere. Now he is on zytiga. Will do the blood test next month and will know how it is working. He however feels great.....he is back on the original schedule of having proper meals and doing some light activity. Keeping fingers crossed for now.

Dad PCa... 68 yrs
PSA 4/12-34 ( Possible bone mets in one spot)
Started on Lupron and Casodex- PSA 0.4 on 5/12
12/12- PSA went up straight to 100 ( Bone mets at 5 places)
1/13 started Taxotere
3/13 PSA 85
Did PSA once more two days ago...went upto 280
Waiting to speak to the Doc....Very scared as I think we are moving too fast from one treatment to another....Any advise is appreciated....

I don´t think there are many people out there who did not respond to Zytiga, so you can look forward to nice months ahead. I pray it works for him as long as possible (some guys from original clinical trial have gone for yrs on Zytiga, but I haven´t heard anyone on this forum report similar results YET). Enjoy your time with your dad, I know what you are going through. And never loose hope, not with this disease.

Thanks for the update chinki. Sorry that he failed taxotere but the fact that he is feeling good is half the battle. Enjoy the day...this day and every day with him

I hear good things about Zytiga.

Here's hoping it does the trick.

I'm sorry that Taxotere didn't work for him. When that doesn't work, Jevtana might.

There are so many great new meds available now, and I hope the Zytiga works. If not, there's Xtandi.

There's also Provenge immunotherapy. And Zometa or Xgeva for the bone mets. Not to mention all the promising clinical trials going on that he could get in on.

I wouldn't worry about moving too fast with his climbing PSA. In fact there may be value in hitting the cancer from several sides at once rather than waiting for each to fail in turn.

Chinki, what is your dads age and is he still on HT in addition? Its a rough situation, but do not lose your hope. things are happening fast in treatment options.

Thank you speciallady, littlenm, Andrew, Buddy Blank, Tall Allen and logoslidat for your input. I really do hope that Zytiga works for him. Logoslidat, he is 68 yrs old and yes he still is on HT.
Will update more after the next doc visit.
