The AUA just released this statement:

I do agree that the marketing of this was terrible...but even after all that - this will cause a big stir everywhere.....

I'm sure of that but it wasn't marketing. What you saw in Shu's post was a terrible reporting job and I did't catch on until later today that everyone was taking the USA Today post as accurate.

Ugh! it is not accurate! And it angers too many people at delivery. This is not as bad as people think. In fact I think it's better than the previous version that was a knee jerk reaction to the USPSTF recommendation to never screen a man.

I agree that the reporting was misleading and caused a lot of the outrage.

I really hope a better screening method is developed some day. Or better yet, therapies and drugs that will give PC patients 40 years regardless of the type of PC...and at an affordable price.

I'm not asking for too much, am I?

While we are wishing, how about making it a treatment that doesn't involve castration of any sort -- chemical, surgical, or financial?

I'm convinced I'd be totally screwed if I had not been tested as often as I was. Check out the comments at the end of the AUA message-I left one for the GFMPH crew.
