Hmmmm... Google maps says it a three hour drive. It's almost 2 pm now. Allowing for rush hour traffic along the way... Carry the three, multiply by 2.8... Nope. It's too far. Won't make it. Thanks for the invite!!

I never heard of boiled peanuts by the way. I'll look them up.

gee, boiled peanuts are a staple and part of the food pyramid here in SC, you see stands at every roadside. I can take them in small doses, I just wonder what else is floating in the water sometimes, lol

Love boiled peanuts!

Whenever we used to head to the Biloxi coast, with my Dad being a backseat driver, we always had to stop at the LA/MS state line and there is a place there that makes the absolute best boiled peanuts! Dad boils them pretty close!

Yeah David, seeing the water does make you wonder! What starts out as fresh crystal clear water soon turns to brown mucky color. lol

I cooked 2 quarts of peanuts yesterday. They were gone by 6 and so was the beer. :-(

May have to do another peanut & beer run...lol

MsWorryWart - Yep, there is a trick to boiling peanuts, you have to have the right amount of salt. :-)
I have also found out that even the type of pot (aluminum, cast iron, stainless steel, teflon coated) will affect the taste.

Off of Highway 11 in SC, which goes along the base of the mountains (yes there are mtns. in SC), there was a guy known as the "Peanut Man". Huge stand, been there for years. I was ok buying his boiled peanuts for years, until one day I ventured inside and looked at his boiling pot. It was filled with peanuts of course, but also big chunks of deer meat and other road kill, misc. unknown vegetables, etc. Grossed me out so much, never went there again.
