First impressions/questions on VED

I got a Osbon ErecAid VED. 100% covered by my insurance, thankfully.

Doc has me using for rehab and to avoid atrophy. Initially daily use, then progressively reduces to every-other day and then every-third day.

Using the tension rings to maintain erection for intercourse isn't working well.

1) The ring itself is a bit uncomfortable, because it needs to squeeze tight to do the job.

2) Even using a small/tight ring, willy loses hardness during the first few minutes making penetration challenging. (Willy stays "big", but not rigid.)

I'm a reasonably endowed guy (my girth fills the entire diameter and nearly the entire length of the vacuum tube), and I've tried the second smallest tension ring and still can't maintain rigidity.

3) Getting the ring off is challenging. Stretching the ring to let blood flow back into my body isn't working well, perhaps because I'm using such a tight ring (see above). So, it takes some work to slowly slide the ring off and force blood back into my body.

Should I be doing something different to get a better outcome with using/removing the tension ring?

Overall, using the tension ring for intercourse makes me look forward to starting injections.

Yes, 7 weeks post-op.

I'm taking 100mg Viagra or 25mg Cialis three times per week. No "action" yet (but none expected either).

I tried the rings early in my rehab too with the same limited success that you are having. I finally ditched the rings and put the "Vulcan Death Grip" at the base of my penis and was able to achieve penetration in that fashion. Fortunately, I only needed to do that a couple of months before things started to kick in and the leaking disappeared and I was able to maintain my erections longer on my own. It was a painfully slow process, but each time got better and better. You are still early in the process, but far ahead of where I was at 7 weeks. I am now fully functional without the aid of medications. I have every confidence you will get there.

I am using mine strictly for rehab. Haven't taken those rings out of the package and don't plan to. It is still a long road for me as it has been only three months but I am hopeful. My Uro instructed me to use the device five minutes daily, holding suction for about 30 seconds and then repeating. He also has me on 5 mg of Cialis daily.

I think that once you are using trimix, the pump becomes less important, but it is still an option. I can go do a 5 minute pump exercise without spending money by using up a dose of Trimix, and without going through the "exercise" of dealing with an inflicted erection at a time I don't need it.

I use Trimix when the situation calls for it, the pump when its "just me".

Dr. Tewari personally told me that he's not a fan of using VED for rehab. But, his nurse practitioner told me to get the VED as an interim step before injections. That is necessary because the soonest appointment they can give me to begin injections isn't until 12 weeks post-surgery, and they didn't want me to wait that long before establishing some form of erections due to risk of atrophy.

Unless Tewari's office advises otherwise, I plan to use 142's approach: injections when penetration is desired, pump otherwise. Viagra 100mg/Cialis 25mg three times a week regardless.

Gedman, I was going to ask you how you got the pump because Tewari also told me he doesn't really believe in it.  My stats and recovery are almost the same as yours and I'm in the process of scheduling my 3 month blood work.  I'll probably schedule a consult with him next week to discuss my progress and next steps so I was going to ask him about the pump.  Bob

 

Actually had mine done 1.5 months before you so I'm at the 3 month mark right now.  Trying to figure out what my options are so wondering if Tewari or someone in his office wrote a prescription for the pump, not sure how this works.   

I'm not thrilled with the idea of injections and since my relationship with my wife isn't so good I'm thinking the pump might be good enough for now.

Call Tewari's office and speak to his nurse-practitioner. (You probably know her already. Her name is one of the months of the year.). She will direct you to the sales rep who has all the documentation needed for Tewari patients.
