I spent a couple days there earlier this week. perfect time of year.  weather is nice but not hot. summer vacation hasn't begun so there are no crowds or the daily afternoon traffic jam from Homewood to Tahoe City.  plenty of parking places on all the turnouts around Emerald Bay. and I found a great room for $50 a night in Tahoe City where the manager made waffles for guests in the mornings...

You've got a nice photographic eye, Ed.  What kind of camera are you using?  I'm in the market for a new one, so have just started the long search.

Ed, great shots and I'm jealous of your camera. I have a 7D and have been thinking of upgrading to either the 6D or 5D mkIII for awhile now!

That camera's a masterpiece of optical engineering.  How'd you like to post some more pictures occasionally?  Something to think about.

Great pictures. The last three days in June, will be there with my wife and two oldest grandchildren. Have a Glasgow reunion. I have a brother and sister in love that lives in Lodi, CA. Will be traveling to Northern CA visiting family and friends. Raised in Santa Rosa, CA. Been in the Memphis area since 1972.

Thanks guys. usually there is more snow. The truckee river was just a trickle this year compared to what I usually see this time of year.

I took the "miner's" picture as I drove by in Virginia city and the old fellow let me know he didn't appreciate it by the look he gave me :-).

The 5d3 is an amazing camera, easily the best I have ever used and this comes from a guy who has only used 1d bodies for the last five years.

We're doing a two week road trip to Yellowstone in early June so I'll have more pictures then.

Great Photos as always Ed. Last year I bought mandy a T3i for Christmas. For her B-day I got her a remote and a tripod. I plan to invest in some good lenses next and upgrade the body later. She has an amazing eye as well but she is.not.sure how to use most of the camera features. I think a photography class is in her future.Todd

Heh!  Yeah, Kingfishers can be quite a challenge.  Turns out this little gal was not as skittish as most.  We had a group of Flickr folks who would get in line to shoot her at Bombay Hook NWR, Smyrna, Delaware, USA.  Even gave her a name, "Carole King(fisher)"  This shot was captured with a 400mm F/5.6L USM / Canon 7D (I've since upgraded to a 500mm F/4L USM).

Lovely shots!  We absolutely love going to Lake Tahoe (usually go to one or more of the outdoor concerts at Harrah's in the summer!).  It is a beautiful place and your photos are great. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the compliment.  For the most part, I shoot with a Canon 7D, but sometimes use a Panasonic GH2 (nice & portable).

btw:  I don't want to hijack Ed's thread about his excellent Lake Tahoe photography, but someone mentioned we ought to have a place for us to share our photos, so I thought it would be okay.
