So sorry for your presence at HealingWell but you have found a great group of folks and a great peer to peer website. We are all patients here sharing and caring.

This booklet is one of the very best I have seen in my experience since I was diagnosed in 2006. I wish I had it back then and I hope this is helpful to you. It is put together by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network which is made up of the top echelon of treatment centers in the US. The book covers much you should want to know in your decision making process.

Education is the key to making sound reasonable decisions you can live with. And since the decisions ahead are decisions you will live with moving forward for the rest of your life and cannot undo, it is imperative that making these decisions educated decisions is crucial.

I think that the booklet is so good that it should be a sticky at the top of this forum. It may not cover everything, but it is an excellent place to start for new members of the forum.

Well I no longer have that ability as I no longer am a moderator. But for now we can remember to bump it up once in a while.

WOW!! The NCCN guidelines have certainly changed since I read them in 2010..A lot more and better information, I think..Since I used to "sneak" a cigarette then (age 68) and have diabetes maybe I wouldn't have passed the "death index" and radiation wouldn't have been an option..I probably got "over-treated" for my boatload of G8's..Oh well.

You did well with moving forward. I would never look back on it. You had symptoms and you should treat symptoms.

The information in that single pamphlet far exceeds what I learned through the hundreds of hours that my honey and I spent 'googling' for answers. I suspect that others may have had a similar experience. It is very straight forward and objective. Excellent. I agree...it should be a sticky at least, and maybe mandatory reading before coming aboard. Just kidding.

My plan follows NCCN guidelines for my specific situation. There are lots of paths through the flowcharts.
