Thanks Medved, Andrew and Robert for posting the links - when I started this thread I had just come out of a 3-day backpacking trip with my son and only had my smartphone for internet and even that was spotty. Purg, no worries, did not even bring the phone in with me as we were camped in the middle of the 35,000 square foot Porcupine Mountains Wilderness Area = no cell signal, no satellite, nothing for three solid days and it was awesome!
Mike, it was definitely good/fun exercise and GFMPH for sure! It was only a three mile hike in, but mainly uphill all the way as where we stayed, Mirror Lake, is at a fairly high (for the midwest) elevation in relationship to the starting point. Add to that a 50 lb pack and yup, a great workout! I'm planning on starting a new thread about this trip and also include links out to a shared site for photos so I won't go on about the trip here - but suffice it to say it was incredible.....
So then I thought the article was from a credible source and published actual study results - which is why I put it out here. Funny, I had just barely got back into "civilization" - although that is up for discussion - and went to Google News to see if anything earth-shattering had happened while we were out in the wildnerness and came across this article.
