It looks like it's time for Xstandi - at least my Oncologist says it is! I am feeling a bit down and out - especially after finishing 30-weeks of chemo by IV ... and then 6-weeks later, my PSA had gone from a recent low of 12 up to 23 ... and that was two weeks ago!
In August of 2012, my PSA was up to 54+ ... and that was shortly after 5-months of an expensive and very unsucessful timeframe of a different oral chemo treatment. I have been on Lupron now for about 18-months and am even questioning whether I should be on a 6-month or a 4-month schedule for that injection - and wondering if I am getting the correct quantity in the injection from my Urologist.
Yesterday ... I got a rejection letter in the mail for financial assistance on the Xstandi, and I am meeting with my Oncologist and his in-house insurance/financial person on Monday morning. I think ....... that is the perfect time for me to get more info on exactly what I am dealing with now - as well as more detail of my past treatments for Prostate Cancer the first time around - about 9-years ago. Yesterday's rejection letter was one big "WAKE-UP" call - and it's time to fight this disease - and not sit back and just let things happen.
I have spent some time today ... the first time ... on this site - and reading many of the messages and replies. I have been taken back by the obvious caring of so many people who share such similar concerns. I would appreciate any comments on Xstandi ... any comments at all! I'm feeling a bit alone right now - I guess feeling somewhat abandoned by the makers of two of the oral chemo manufacturers.
