My most recent blood test, I was informed that all labs look good, nothing to be concerned about.

Has this reading for testosterone "Total 33L, normal range 241-827ng/dl"

What does this number mean for overall health side effects etc..

I was tested last week for testasterone level for the first time (to my knowledge). Today, I was in for a typical blood draw (for hemaglobin level) and to review a few things with my Oncologist. My testasterone level was at just under 20 ... and normal was 240 (I believe). In my case though, the reason for taking some of the meds I do take (like Lupron) is to lower my testasterone level - or as a chemical castration. At least, in my case, my prostate cancer has been feeding on the testasterone ... so it is a goal to reduce it as much as possible.

The best choice is to check with your doctor - but, I think your numbers are going in the right direction - IF prostate cancer is suspected.

My understanding is that 50 ng/dL is considered "castrate level", and really would like to achieve 20 or less. (Man, I still have a hard time thinking about that goal in a positive way!)

The Lupron documentation shows testosterone level vs. time on a graph, with a line at 50 ng/dL as the target it is to stay below. That's for the LHRH agonist goal of reducing testosterone.

Side effects are widely covered for different forms of HT. Lupron's seem to be mainly fatigue and hot flashes, though there are a host of others. Other HT drugs work in different ways, like Casodex that blocks the PCa cell's usage of testosterone. It has different side effects from Lupron.
