I think Logo was asking if anyone has "made friends" with their illness. I've read novels in which the protagonist would pause and look for a familiar pain, perhaps angina or even something worse, and feel almost a sense of relief when he finds it's still there, just like an old friend. The pain has become their inseparable companion, and even if they would consciously prefer that they did not have the pain, at some level of their being they found it reassuring that it was still with them.
As Peter said, it's definitely an abstruse concept, but I think it has a degree of psychological truth to it.
Peter Paul and Mary had a song where they said they dig rock and roll music when the words don't get in the way. I think in this case Logo's words got in the way.
