..6 wk post op PSA 0.02 & thats a good start..

..OK, I received via the telephone my first post operation PSA results today. It came in at 0.02 and that is a good start I might say. I am happy, but I know that it, the PSA can rise at any time in the near future having G9 aggressive PAc. Also, on paper I am stage 4 with the post operation pathology report of 1 positive lymph node out of 18 dissected. I say on paper because the cancer still needs to be metastasized proven cause it is so early post surgery. The Radiation Oncologist is ready to do Adjunctive IMRT with IGRT, I am still waiting to heal a bit more from incontinence and impotence. My Medical Oncologist would like to talk to his tumor review board for more opinions. My Surgeon suggests going for Adjunctive Therapy and using that window of time after surgery to go for Adjunctive.. I myself am confused..

..Anyways a 0.02 is the great news I wanted to share with you all..

..The surgeon called and left a message that said it was 0.04 different than the 0.02 the Med Oncologist quoted. They are affiliated and both contacted me with different numbers. I will double check the #'s next week when I visit the Med Oncologist. Any ways does any one have an opinion on the next step? To zap or wait? To zap or wait? to zap or wait?..

To zap or wait? To zap or wait?

if it were me i'd zap. your initial PSA hints that the PC may be contained.  i'd want to hit the prostate bed and lymph nodes.  you're only going to get one shot at this.  good luck and congrats on the score cool !

First, congratulations on the low number -woo hoo! That's pretty comforting.

Second, Wow. Do the decisions ever end? No idea about zap or not, but here's hoping all the best for you! G9 is a bugger....

if it were me i'd zap. your initial PSA hints that the PC may be contained. i'd want to hit the prostate bed and lymph nodes. you're only going to get one shot at this. good luck and congrats on the score [img]/community/emoticons/cool.gif[/img] !

...."You only get one chance at this" is just what the surgeon meant by that "window of time after surgery", I am listening, I am hearing, just a bit nervous I guess........Thanks F8

Congrats on the low psa #..Basically, that means it probably hasn't spread or at least not very far..I think Ed summed it up very well. You have a chance for a "cure" now and with a positive lymph node I see no reason to wait.. Get her done son...ZAP IT.
Not a physician just an old convoy commander but the strategy is the same--hit the enemy fast with the most firepower...All the best.

I agree but would want to see the enemy or a hint of him. I don't see that here or with Achaen I fear friendly fire in these cases. Whats that old saying don't' fire till you see the whites of their eyes. My take, one out of many. fwiw

....and that is why I had questions in the first place Logo. Though I am probably going to zap for the sake of the prostrate bed and lymph nodes more importantly, I still have reservations about it though. Too to may decisions Redwings57, yes to many life and death situations to make calls on.
