Urethral suspension

Urethral suspension is a surgical procedure used to treat stress incontinence in women. Stress incontinence is an uncontrolled leaking of urine. Stress, in this case, means physical stress on the bladder and urethra (the short tube from the bladder to above the vagina that carries urine). Types of physical stress that can cause this leakage include coughing, laughing, exercise, sneezing, or lifting. Approximately 85% of all stress incontinence occurs in women.

I would guess the same thing could be done for men

Hmmm. There's this paper about a "periurethral suspension stitch" that can be used during RALP that seems to result in earlier continence, at least according to the author. Its an extra stitch -- a surgical flourish -- and it doesn't seem like it would be a big deal, risk-wise.

If you are not squeamish you can find YouTube videos of surgeons performing the stitch. If you can watch any of them without finding your knees clenched together about half way through you are a better man than I am.
