Hmmm. There's
this paper about
a "periurethral suspension stitch" that can be used during RALP that seems to result in earlier continence, at least according to the author. Its an extra stitch -- a surgical flourish -- and it doesn't seem like it would be a big deal, risk-wise.
If you are not squeamish you can find YouTube videos of surgeons performing the stitch. If you can watch any of them without finding your knees clenched together about
half way through you are a better man than I am.
